16:17 Catterick failed to turn inplay
Does anybody know why this happens? Turning it In play a few seconds late I can understand, but a full race happening without someone noticing.....

Is it automated, or is it somebody's job to manually turn an event in play?
somebody probably making a cup of tea and chatting away did not realise the time.

should not happen, better then they used to be, that's life.

In the age of TPD it shouldn't happen. So I'm not sure why it does. I'd imagine it was a failure at their end from either the perspective of the person using the system or the system failing to function correctly.

I think the Betfair guys at Southwell said stalls starts use gate sensors, and flag starts are done remotely from the TV pics? I'm not 100% sure on that but it might jog a memory. And I can't remember what the contingency was if there's comms or vid failures.

My recent bugbear is markets being loaded late by BF.

However, yesterday I waited until 10pm last night and Hobart & Port Augusta were still not available (both meetings were on).
As of 11pm last night, Murray Bridge & Ipswich horse races in Oz were not available to load into Guardian.

That's 4 meetings in the last week that have been really late to be available in Betfair :o

Replay from Betfair
We create our markets using fixed odds provided by the TAB, usually the day before the race. The last couple of days the TAB have not provided any fixed odds until the day of the race for a couple of meetings. Today this happened with Ipswich and Murray Bridge for example.
The good news is that it shouldn't be a regular occurrence as generally the TAB will have their odds up the day before, though this is out of our control.

I’ve read they’re trying to get a solution as they normally use the TAB and they need to have their fixed odds out so they can have a reduction factor

I can't see them finding a solution tho. None of the corporate bookies post prices until the TAB fixed odds are up, so I'm not sure where they will get prices from if the TAB are a bit tardy??

Don't get too hooked up on any WA markets being slow. This is a big country and WA is 5 hours away by plane from Syd/Melb/Bris and 2 hrs behind (3 hours in our summer) so there prices will always be a few hours behind the East Coast tracks...

Fair enough.

Being in Oz I've never worried about loading the Oz race markets until the morning on actual race day. Never had a case of meetings not there except the aforementioned WA fields. It's midnight here now and none of the markets you have listed are up yet, but will be there when I wake in the morning.

I know that the Pace and trot markets will not be there until 10am AEST on any day.

I won't clog up this thread with more meetings not available but just to say Betfair Help reached out to me on X with the following message.

Betfair guys have told me all market management is done manually with a bloke watching a stream. Somewhere between the two lies the truth...

I'm pretty sure Betfair have access to clean feeds because on rare occasion where industry-wide consumer feeds go down, Betfair still manage the market normally.
