Some folk just seem to need something to hate whether it be religion, colour of your skin, ethnicity or football team...
I went to a Pat Bonner memorial match a long time a go (don't go to many football games) and was stunned at the "hate" on display at what was supposed to be a celebratory match!
I'm in Scotland 3 times a year for 10 days and have not experienced any anti-english sentiment. I did go to a couple of Hibs games and the ferocity particularly against Rangers was mostly hot air but you wouldn't want to be next to some of those guys. So mostly Scots reserve their ire for other Scots. Maybe I've been lucky but over 30 years now and I still like Scots.sionascaig wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 10:47 amYup. So to misquote someone and accuse them of lying based on that misquote is totally acceptable in your mind and where was he economical with the truth, the truth is plain and clear ... some 2.50 million immigrants came to the UK in 2022/2023 as he said. It is you who is being economical with the truth by misquoting him and then accusing him of lying. You have just defined yourself as a liar! Anyway, enough, I can't have a sensible debate with someone who so lives in denial of the truth.greenmark wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2025 9:18 amI wasn't wrong about farage's comments about immigration being a lie. You know you're supporting a liar. I'm shocked. 2.5 million immigrants is not the complete picture. 1.449 million over two years is the nett migration. Farage knows what he is saying. As I said - economical with the truth. And deliberately to stoke xenophobic sentiment. I don't care that 750,000 have entered the uk per annum.firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 12:42 pmSo to misquote someone and accuse them of lying based on that misquote is totally acceptable in your mind and where was he economical with the truth, the truth is plain and clear ... some 2.50 million immigrants came to the UK in 2022/2023 as he said. EU migration to the UK has been replaced by non-EU migration. So what was the flipping point of all that brexit BS?
But I welcome all immigrants. The more the better. Culture and society benefits from different views. Look at our history. Not easy at all. But richer for the "immigrants" for sure.

"The only way you're ever going to solve the Channel is if they know that, number one, they'll never be granted refugee status by coming via this route, and number two, that they're not going to stay. It's dead simple."

And that will be the solution of removing Human Rights from over 50 million folk in order to stop a few thousand folk arriving on boats?ForFolksSake wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 2:09 pm

Many believe that international human rights law is one of our greatest moral achievements. But there is little evidence that it is effective. A radically different approach is long overduesionascaig wrote: ↑

Jesus wept decent game of football on to trade and people banging on about human rights
Anyway when human rights give the same rights to that of a paedophile, a rapist or a murderer as they do the victim then there's clear something very wrong with them. Just needs a line in adding saying it doesn't apply to criminals and they give up their human rights when they decide to break the law.
The can earn their human rights back once they have been rehabilitated, that's their choice.

It's also a Human right to control 'illegal immigration '
