I've been noticing some behaviour of which I am becoming concerned about, with regards to terrorists attacks and price movements thereafter. It could just be savvy traders but some of these savvy traders could be linked with funding Terrorism.

Notice the drift on Man Utd this morning. The price was flat before terror attack up until this morning when news came out the Man Utd players were struggling to come to terms with the terror attack.

The thing is terrorist are getting rich by using these situations to predict a drift on the team where the bombing happened. Its happened on 3 occasions (Dortmund, France) from what I've seen but could be more rife than previously thought.

I would like to know PW thoughts, and anyones thoughts, on if and its a big "IF", there could be a possibility that terrorist organisations could be using Betfair to fund their terrorism, and could also be using tools like BetAngel etc. Its just a conspiracy theory but one we must be aware of and if anyone has any info regarding this should report it to the authorities.

Thoughts anyone?

I think that's natural movement. It's a huge leap to say terrorists are profiting from it.

I agree its a steady 10 tick move over a 2hr period following the news break of an awful atrocity, not to play the terrible events in Manchester down but the market would react in a similar way to many news breaks or even team line-ups

Terrorists blowing people up to move football markets? that i highly doubt.

If anything i would say traders exploiting the situations knowing players would not be in the best mindset.

I have to chuckle at the suggestion that these terrorists pre-attack checklist includes 'place lay bet on the exchange'

As a United fan myself I would like to think that the players are professional enough to put recent events to the back of their mind, however if it was me playing in the final tonight I would find it hard at some point during the game not to think about the attack which could affect my game during the 90/120 mins (& then a possible pen shoot out).

Also United are playing in Blue tonight which for me doesn't bode well, United haven't a great recent record playing in away strips in Euro finals

It's not a betfair chart but undoubtedly my chart of the day, should be enough volume to satisfy most people I think

That famous biblical misprint, "The geek shall inherit the earth" seems to be happening. Ladies and gentleman let me introduce to you, Ethereum co-founder, Mr Vitalik Buterin. Market cap $ 18bn !!!!

It puts you in your place, busting your balls for a tenner at Kempton when a bunch of kids are doing this. Years ago nobody took kids seriously !

I made a computerised cash register when I was 17, hooked up to one of these..

code num on your price labels, type it in, did your stock checking etc, bob's yer uncle...nobody wanted to know. The next year, NCR brought one out as the 'world's first' These days kids scribble on a napkin and someone gives them a billion dollars! I guess I was a naive pre-internet country boy and these lads are really really savvy.

Everything looks easy in hindsight ;) I've noticed a lot of "educators" pushing crypto's very hard recently - https://youtu.be/sWUQrJm6EQI (but a blatant "sales pitch" like this one, always gets me suspicious)

You should stick some of this discussion on the bitcoin thread as it's a useful measure on the sentiment and trading patterns over time.
