Are Rooney's days at Old Trafford numbered?

Football, Soccer - whatever you call it. It is the beautiful game.

I think Rooney is well aware that, if he's caught playing away from home again, his marriage won't be the only thing he'll lose! ;)

Can you imagine the impact on the fans and headlines though if he went to City?..... 'Big shift in the Balance of Power' etc etc Fergie would never stand for it!

I'm not sure Fergie's bothered about negative headlines. I don't get the impression that Fergie cares what people think of him. And I read in Jaap Stam's autobiography that Fergie actually uses bad press to motivate his players!

I'm not saying Fergie will be pleased to see Rooney go to City. But if he feels Rooney is undermining his authority, and City make an extremely generous offer, Fergie might decide it's the best option.

Haha yes but he's not in the business of giving the impression that the club are falling apart and is sensitive to what the fans feel. He was annoyed enough about what happened with Tevez going to City by winding his contract down and those posters that City put up across manchester, this would be far worse and would raise serious concerns about the club. Don't get me wrong I'd love to see it happen it would be hilarious but unless Fergie knows Rooney has some secret long term injury problem then I just can't see it happening

We'll see... :)

He got rid of Beckham and Van Nistlerooy when they were in their prime, so I wouldn't rule it out.

Things are changing you see... Money is playing a major impact on football and unless FIFA new rules that forbid expenditure beyond comercial income come along, money will keep dictating its rules. Never forget the golden rule: those who have the gold, make the rules :D

Alex Fergusson hability to keep Man Utd's high standards along the past years is incredible anyway and he must be praised for that ;)

Skybet are offering odds on Rooney to go to various clubs in January:

It's interesting that they are also offering odds of 8/1 for Forlan to rejoin Man U in January. I think the true odds are more like 80/1!

When Forlan was playing for Man U, I always felt that he was a much underrated player. Like Rooney, he was unhappy when he didn't start every game, which created a Catch 22. Forlan generally didn't play to his potential unless he was regularly in the starting 11, but Fergie wouldn't put him in the starting 11 unless he was playing to his potential. Because of this, and because of the number of quality strikers Forlan would be up against, I'm not sure it would work out any better second time around.

Arsenal NOT to sign a goalkeeper at 7/4 looks a standout bet for me. Granted that they do need someone, but they failed to find anyone they deemed to be suitable in the summer and it will be a lot harder to persuade anyone to let their no1 keeper go in January...

FLorentino Perez is hoping Chelsea 60M bid for KaKa. Wayne rooney was priced today for a stuggering 70M. He is currently on 90.000 per week like many British papers mentioned but, Man city real offer is not 200K per week but 15.600.000 a year. Real madrid will offer 165.000 per week plus bonuses for Wayne Rooney. In January we will see fireworks (Inter Milan, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Man city)for the transfer window.
Miccon (BRA)35M Inter Milan -> Real Madrid
Benzema(FRA) 30M Real Madrid -> Inter Milan
KaKa(BRA) 60M Real Madrid -> Chelsea
Rooney (ENG) 70M -> Man Utd -> Real Madrid, Man city
Milito (ARG) 40M -> Inter Milan -> Real Madrid or Rooney
Pastore (ARG) 60M Palermo -> Chelsea, Inter Milan, Barcellona, Man City, Real Madrid
Messi (ARG) 250M Barcellona -> Inter Milan (this one is science fiction)

Can't see all those transfers going on, the finantial crisis doesn't leave much space for the clubs to get more credit.

Rooney is going nowhere, its same stuff stirred up by press and his agent when they want more money same thing happened with Vidic last year, real, barca, AC all after him even city and look now he is the captain!

Fergie knows that an on-form Wayne Rooney is one of the best players in the world still with plenty of years in him he be at man u next year!

I'm not so sure...

Van Nistlerooy wasn't exactly past it when Fergie sold him on. Nor Beckham.

If Fergie feels that his relations with Rooney have broken down irretrievably, then he'll probably want to offload him. Rooney is talented, but if he's sulking he won't be playing anywhere near his potential and he'll be damaging team morale.

Silence speaks volumes, and I think it's telling that Man U aren't commenting, except to say that Rooney's not leaving. And you have to wonder why Rooney hasn't issued a statement saying:

'It wasn't my intention to imply that Sir Alex was a liar. I merely disagreed with his view of my fitness to play. With hindsight, I shouldn't have made those views public. I apologise to Sir Alex, who I respect enormously, and I look forward to continuing to work with him.'

A statement like that, followed by a picture of Rooney and Sir Alex shaking hands, would have put the matter to bed. So you have to wonder why it didn't happen...

PS It looks like City might be planning a £100 million move for Rooney:

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Ma ... 04393.html

As things stand, Rooney can leave on a Bosman in 2012 if he doesn't renew his contract. So I think United would take the £100 million.
