There has been talk (tin foil hat) that the likes of Flutter might have there own version of data feed, faster and more reliable. I mean they're not going to slum it with us retailers are they

Betfair had the first feed, it’s equivalent to the direct UDP feed but goes through the Betfair servers for data mapping market/selection ids, it’s faster than the ‘retail’ feeds but not as quick as direct however it’s considerably cheaper..

Liquidity is the problem right now inplay, however it is still possible to make decent sums.

the 1st or 2nd fav had a layer staking £311 (I don't know if it was a single layer, but it's the story I was telling myself), money kept jumping infront of it but this £311 never moved from the price it was offering, like its that price or nothing. Sure enough it was eventually taken and as soon as it was the price sprung up like an elastic band, regardless of what was happening in the race.

Probably a single layer who was dumping their closing position in the market after their cumulative pre-off position. This in turn would have spooked other bots into reacting to something that might have occurred, or was about to occur, and the market moved. I've used a spike bot, in certain in-play markets, to catch these moves, which then adds to the ever confusing landscape that is hard to make sense of at the best of times.

I remember extolling the virtues of the Bet-Angel In-play trader. It's still one of the best guides that gives an overview of the how the betfair market is breathing, and, with practice, can be used to place a good entry position, followed by a bot to close the position, with a trailing stop.

There's still plenty of the in-play pie to go around, the issue is how to adjust to the scale of the entry and exit positions in the smaller markets.

Regarding price not drifting when a horse is being slapped around / on the bit / whipped, thats probably TPD bot related. The speed of the horse may not be changing even if the behaviour and effort is

The only glimmer of hope is that the rate of decline is slowing, but it did in '22 too.
