I actually traded out early at a loss, because I was getting frustrated that I couldn't use the charts (i.e. loss of trading data). I initally thought it was my computers fault, but it looks like betfairs problem.

Do you think I have any "realistic" componsation claims?

previous experiance says no.
i going to point out that their site started crashing from at least 17:14, they should have suspended earlier as they knew it was failing etc.
but i will not win. their t&c see to that

There just not going to budge on things like this im afraid, all pre race bets will stand, don't see what choice they have really when you think about it.
