I went to the Betfair website, and I got a message about the site being down due to scheduled maintenance.

It wouldn't have hurt for Betfair to have sent emails to its members to warm them about this maintenance well in advance (and to conduct it when there was very little going on sporting-wise).

just got off the phone, they reckon they dont why that sign came up just that the site as crashed. geezer trying to shift blame to me saying they suspendnded as race was about to go inplay. i corrected him by informing that it was suspended at 17:27:49, then he denied race was suspended and site crashed. i pointed i have screen shot and a time stamp (ba log) plus screen shot of their site saying shced maintaince etc.

someone is going to ring me sometime tonight. usually i take these things quite easily but not time.

Betfair did not unsuspend that market. We were logged into the site, via the API and via non API mode and none of them brought the market back up.

Market was suspended at 17:21:31 according to my log and that was it, boooommm.

initially i assumed they had suspended early (every now and then they mess it up), but after about 20 seconds it appeared to be a crash as i could not switch markets on either mode 0 or 1, and the fact that their website was stating sched maintaince etc.

just checked my pc clock with atomic clock and it would seem that it is correct. is possable that my log may be out of synch with my pc clock? or that it suspended at different times for different users. it would be good to know the suspension time as accurately as possable for my forthcoming row.

Yes, I did. I am pretty sure they were playing up a good five minutes before the suspension.

I was getting annoyed because I wanted to check my trade and couldn't see the charts.

I once emailed a complaint to Niall Wass, Betfair's director of marketing, and received a reply from him personally:

[email protected]

Also, whenever I've emailed questions for the attention of Phil Cohen, Betfair's Head of Customer Services, he's replied personally. If you want Mr Cohen's number, PM me.

I hope this helps.

can i ask anyone who reads this to have a look at their log and post the suspend time it shows. it might be useful to have a idea if there was any variations in sus times in my argument with betfair.

i shall also req this on the betfair down thread.

My log has the market suspended at 17:27:30. I also saw the BF graphs disappear, can't say when exactly, but at least 5 mins before suspension.

Here's mine:

19/01/2011 17:27:33: Market has been suspended

I noticed problems with the site up to 15 mins before the crash though, the 'My Account' sections wasn't working properly, some menu items were, but others (like P&L) were not. I thought it was my browser tab tbh as no one mentioned it on here, it got worse over time and then the suspension occurred and it all went Pete Tong!
