I can understand the cynical attitude of Oscar, as that was my immediate response when I saw Mugs blog...why?
I haven't got the time for a blog, and can't be bothered with less successful traders than me giving me some abuse. If I had software to sell like Peter, I'd make the time, but my profit margins have been drastically reduced by PC, and I have no interest at all in giving my secrets away for the fun of it!
The Best Betfair Traders?
If you looked into this a bit deeper you'd find that this is free and basically just an email giving pointers on activity to look out for over the weekend. So far there's been 5 of them, I've received all 5 and the advice given in all of them has been pretty much spot on, especially regarding market movers with the football.oscar123 wrote:and some sort of 'inside track' subscription service from another self acclaimed trading genius!!
Where do I send my cheque??!!
Jeff, please don't copy and paste bits of every post you read then put up a silly counter argument, it's really annoying!
I'm sure there is very little money at all to be made in affiliate links, though I imagine 'mentoring' and 'one to one training' with a highly successful trader pays a lot better.
I read the blog when it first came out and it was enjoyable, I know nothing about the man involved with it or how successful he is or has been as a trader, though wish him well.
But why the constant spam? Are you telling me that you honestly believe that the opening two posters on this topic have nothing to do with the said site?!
I have nothing against people that want to do such things, if they want to give away their edge (which they very rarely actually do) for nothing and be the saviour of the people then good for them. Though i imagine that if you really want to get their 'edge', you are going to have to pay for it, not now of course, but maybe sometime in the distant future!!! Just read the opening page on the blog!

Why not disagree politely with someone without calling their arguments silly? And if you genuinely find my posts annoying, then I respectfully suggest you block me.oscar123 wrote:Jeff, please don't copy and paste bits of every post you read then put up a silly counter argument, it's really annoying!
As I was taught in primary school: If you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!

Jeff
The problem with this industry is there are lots of people who call themselves professional who quite clearly are not. So anybody 'new' that appears is going to get tarred with the same brush.
You also have this issue that lots of people put on a front to generate interest, and then charge anyway. How many times have we been suckered by this? People swearing blind that they are only giving stuff away for free just because they are such a nice person BS, then further down the line it just turns out to be a cynical piece of marketing.
I get the feeling the scepticism is because of this and probably not much to do with mugs the person, who nobody can really claim to know.

I'm going to put my two-penneth in here too.
Heres what happened as I remeber it (as Mugsgame has deleted his posts I may be slightly wrong).....
As I saw it haichless said he had found a review of the tipping site that Mugsgame said he used for profiling games,....the review wasn't that complimentary and Mugsgame took exception.
haichless said he wasnt having a go just providing a different opinion.
Mugsgame then mentioned he knew the people who run the site and that they werent there to defend themselves, however haichless put forward a good argument and then got a dig back in about Mugsgames ego which reading the post was valid IMHO.
Mugsgame then removed all of his posts as he may have thought he had made a bit of a fool of himself...he hasn't been seen since.
hitchless did nothing wrong, Mugsgame was rude to him to start with with, a sort of 'who the hell are you ....dont you know who I am' sort of attitude, so if Mugsgame never posts again please dont blame haichless.Mugsgame just threw the toys out of the pram after he was out argued.

Id say mugsgame blog is pretty good. Ive only had chance to watch 1-2 vids so far, but the thing I like is hes leaving himself open to showing losses as well as wins. You wont find that on any other blogs or vids apart from the mikeyb (I think it is) on youtube when he did a full day. I hope he is not put off by negative comments and continues.
While I am very grateful of the guys supporting my blog and me personally I want to add some stuff so you know exactly where I am coming from and where I stand.
Firstly, I want to comment about Oscar's accusations about "spam, feeder questions and the blog that doesn't really tell you anything".
I have absolutely nothing to do with anyone feeding questions OR pointing others in the direction of the blog that doesn't really tell you anything.
It doesn't give out horses to trade every morning which has made nearly £1000 in the last 6 weeks. It doesn't have detailed explanations of doing some of the simple things that many take for granted, but a huge amount do not know how to do. It doesn't give out football trades that have made 16 pts profit in 4 weeks (using the very software that is being ripped apart in another thread by someone who is taking the trades from a free newsletter put out by their sister site, and has nothing to do with the recommendation I originally made).
When I launched the "inside track" I say specifically that you will not get endless marketing shite that other newsletters give. It is a means for me to connect to my readers directly, and give out information that I dio not want to post on my blog. This weekend I gave some match odds potential movers on Friday night. They made 30 ticks. There is a unsubscribe button on the bottom. Out of the 200 odd sign ups NONE have unsubscribed. Go figure.
Oscar also wants to make a point about payments or potential future payments. His comment was "Where do i send my cheque"?
When I started writing the blog I had no idea where it would go. Pretty much straight away people were asking about Mentoring. I made a comment (which is published) that it something I would like to do at some point. In fact I have already mentored a couple of guys to full time status (for free btw). I may want to do that again. I'd like to do it with a little more structure this time. You can read the comment in "about" on my blog. Just what this has to do with anything I have no idea.
The biggest problem seems to be what I am making out of it. Well, I would be more interested in asking what are my readers making out of it. From the feedback I am getting, I would say quite a lot.
Now lets talk about BetFormPro and my affiliate links - Not that that's got anything to do with anyone either.
I have 3 affiliate links.
BetFormPro - This is the software I use to generate my Portfolio bets. The ones where I have gave a comprehensive breakdown of exactly how I arrive at my bets (so others can do it for themselves if they want to). I do not take them from the Free newsletter that their sister site - Premier betting sends out like Haichless does. My link (and recommendation) is for BetFormPro. I recommended a FREE TRIAL. After which if you don't like you cancel. This is a tool. Like most tools you use it to help you. It doesn't do it for you. You have to put some effort in. You have to use a little common sense and a small amount of skill to get the best from it. I recommend it because I use it. Which I prove. I make a profit from it, so do the readers that follow my suggestions. Sorry about that. It is not "Tipping software"
The big issue for Haichless seems to be that I know the vendors. The vendors of BFP are Pete Nordsted and Danny Jaques. I met them both about 4 years ago at an event run by Matt Finnigan. I "admitted" I knew them. So what? If I was fabricating results and making false claims then he has a right to question my relationship. I am not. So he doesn't. Bottom line is if you don't want to try it. Don't. Either way I don't give a shit.
My other 2 affilate links are Betdaq and Bet Angel. No one is questioning Bet Angel. Hold on, I know Peter Webb too. Should I "declare" that too? OMG, I am daring to promote a software that I use. What if I don't really use it? Hold on, there are about 70 videos of me using it, and 100's of posts where i have tried to help other use it on this very forum.Hope that's ok.
I don't know anyone form Betdaq - sorry.
So onto another of Oscar's observations about me.
"Because I pay the higher rate PC I would be keen to replace the money I am used to" and "ultimately financial gain".
The trouble is when you think everyone behaves as you would yourself you sometimes get it wrong. Whatever my motives are that's my business. My advice is stop worrying about what others are making.
If I want to charge for my advice I will, if I want to put up another 100 affiliate links I will. If I want to mentor people I will. If people want to read my blog, they will. If they don't, I don't care. My advice to any potential new readers is don't read my blog. Just in case I am making any money out of it. You're safe then aren't you?
The support I get from the guys who read my blog has been fantastic, I think they are happy that someone is writing stuff relevant to them. They understand what I am trying to put across. I am not trying to do anything but give people a pointer in the right direction. I used to do that on here. That stops now. Many of you are offended by my no nonsense approach. I am a simple guy. I say what I mean.
Why should should I give you the benefit of my experience? I don't know that much anyway. I keep all the good stuff don't I? Why would anyone give away anything for free after all?
I don't remember saying at any point I am a "trading genius". I work hard at what I do. Like all the other guys who make money. I put the work in, I don't turn up at 2:00pm, turn on the PC and decide I am going to make a couple of grand. I get it wrong often, I show that.
The biggest complaint you hear from new traders is about "pros" and how they never share their "secrets". The mystique is we have some amazing powers that miraculously give us untold wealth.
If you new guys ever wonder why the "pros" do not give anything away, just have a read though. Anyone who tries to help gets picked apart. Their every word dissected and questioned. I am embarrassed by this whole affair. I made in good faith a recommendation to someone before I even started my blog. They started a thread which recommend it as they found it good too.viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7589&start=40 It then had to defend my recommendation as the "reviewer" was taking about a different product/service. I don't take advice from the newsletter, the in play room or any other advices. I am competent enough to make my own choices. I just use the profiling software.
So when you new traders are frustrated by the lack of quality advice they can really help you learn to trade (for free), think about the individuals that spoil it for you.
So if anyone wants to read my blog, you are welcome. If you don't all the best, I wish you well.
I just don't get it. What have I done wrong here? I put stuff out that makes money, for free! I can't tell you all how frustrated I am.
I am very happy for the moderators to remove every reference of me, my blog and anything I have ever said on this new version of the betfair forum.

You offered something to the community FOC, and you had people publicly questioning your integrity. That would make most people's blood boil.
This is just like what happened Adam Heathcote.

Three cheers for mugs - a very considered post given the circumstances, in my opinion.mugsgame wrote:While I am very grateful of the guys supporting my blog and me personally I want to add some stuff so you know exactly where I am coming from and where I stand.
As a newbie I have read the forums, watched the videos, tried the software, etc and struggle badly to make even a few pence profit trading. I normally achieve less than if I traded at random.
Having watched some of mugs videos and read his comments I learnt a few things that were not covered anywhere else that I had looked - or not in a way that came across to me.
So far, it looks like those things are tipping the scales in my favour. If I could avoid the things he says not to do as well then things would be significantly better

So, for me, he gives fantastic value. Maybe he is just being altruistic or maybe he will charge for his thoughts in the future. Who cares - at the moment I am learning and profiting - I can always unsubscribe and not read his stuff whenever I choose.
Finally, FYI, this is not a new account, I don't know mugs but I will declare a vested interest in his blog because, so far, I profit from his continuing endeavours, advice and examples

Mugsgame, I have no idea who you are, how much you make, or how much you have made.I dont mean to put any slur on your character, as I have absolutely no reason to believe or not believe anything that you or others have stated about you.
I only ever read this forum, which is where I came across the numerous links and mentions of your blog. And there have been a lot of mentions of late, many from new users who have just joined the forum, which I know understand was purely coincidental.
So i had a look out of interest as i thought it would be crazy to give away your edge for free. I was just curious as to what you would be giving away.
It was the comments on the 'About' page which made it look a bit fishy to me. And that conversation that you have with one of 'your followers'.
You: "Glad you stopped by and thanks for your comment. I don’t really have any plans for a subscription service, but haven’t ruled it out in the very long term. What I am more interested in is education and mentoring."
Follower: " I am at the stage where i have eliminated losses but am struggling to generate any meaningful consistent profits. What i am looking for is some help from someone that pays the Betfair premium charges ( ie a proven winner )".
You: "In the long term this is my aim. I am looking to mentor a few committed individuals and hopefully take them to pro status. However, this is a long a tough road."
Follower: "Thank you. You have my email address so i would appreciate it if and when the time comes that you would consider me as a ” pupil ” in whatever format you choose to make any tuition available."
Im terribly sorry for my mistake, though to me this read that you are looking to start charging individuals for the privilige of being mentored by a proven winner. I didnt realise that you were looking to take the lucky few under your wing and mentor them for free.
Though as you quite righly say, this is none of my business. You are clearly the patron saint of traders and are not out in anyway to charge or profit from the passing of your wisdom. You are like a modern day trading Jesus, and I wish you, and your many disciples a happy and successful journey.
All the best.

I was one of the early users of Mugs blog. Its now a must visit every day for me. Adding the educational site on YouTube has produced a wonderful resource for new traders, and those of us who want to reach another level.
After a few weeks I asked whether it would be possible to see a morning video reviewing the days racing from a traders point of view. This has now become a daily regular.
Back to lays (for those interested). Freely given.
Morning review. Freely given
Trading videos. Freely given
Football bets/ideas. Freely given
I am sure we have all experienced sites and services that promise the world, charge the earth and deliver nothing.
The cynicism of some posters here beggars belief.
When the day comes that Mugs says he cant be bothered with his blog any more I will salute him and continue to put the ideas into practice during my trading days.
I doubt there are many or any contributors her with big enough cahoonas to post trade ideas and videos for free.
Thanks again Mugs
