And those few people who can beat the market generally will be too busy making money from it to share the fruits of their wisdom with the public (and thereby reducing the value they get).

I think it's easy to assume that you or a tipster has a better idea of the true price of a horse than the market (I'm as guilty as that as the next person).
However, the market is incredibly accurate overall, and unless you're a form guru like Jolly Green, then the market probably knows more than you!
