CARNAGE as KILLER MEGASTORM to batter Britain
My dad lives in Florida and rang to see if I'd survived. The US coverage generally repeated UK press phrases and when the Yanks hear things like HUGE | KILLER | CATACLYSMIC, they genuinely thought that we were going to get battered.
I lost power for 18 hours. My UPS gave up the ghost after 30 minutes so no trading and we had to watch a film on the laptop. It was awful. Like being catapulted back into the stone age.
I was Googling on my phone, looking at reviews for Generators, desperate times. Then my dad mentioned that during the last big storm he had, the power was out for 10 days and the National Guard were handing out MREs.
Ok, so that was a healthy reality check. Maybe things aren't so bad after all
