I reckon a plague of False Widow Spiders will fall from the skies on Monday along with torrential rain.
Have a read of this crap False Widow Spider ate my leg
In the edit they conveniently omitted
1. The spider is not deadly and not aggressive
2. It has been here 200+ years
3. Nobody has ever died from a bite
4. 12-15 people die each year as a result of bee/wasp stings but that isn't sensational enough to sell papers!
5. This guy actually allowed the wound to become infected; that was the problem, poor hygiene and not the venom.
6. The wound was stitched by Mr Magoo using a darning needle
EDIT Sorry I left out the best bit...."One of the spiders then LEAPT at him as he was packing to go home and - as he tried to swipe it off - plunged its FANGS into his leg."
Apart from that it was pretty accurate!
You have to check the date on these papers, sometimes not even that is true!

I follow these guys on the weather: -

Tend to be pretty accurate and have more to say in a reasonable manner than any other forecasters.
Hope the storm isn't too bad as I going on my travels next week and could do without disruption. My daughter is overseas returning early next week as well.

Actually I think they said, you could have gusts up to 90mph in exposed areas. I'd imagine the racing could be affected on Monday. The Met Office have issued a severe weather warning for most of the UK on Monday, with winds set to reach incredible speeds of up to 90mph.

Friend of mine luckily moved his car from the street but his neighbour didn't - opps!
My sister's garden fence & neighbour's fence have been trashed. Muggins here has a trip to London now to sort it all
We got as predicted virtually no wind here, worse thing that happened was some of my washing got blown off the line yesterday afternoon

Got to say the media coverage was ridiculous. They clearly called in loads of reporters and crews and sent them out ahead of the storm expecting carnage and it just didn't happened. So instead of showing actual news they decided that having spent the money on these crews we should get reports of some old bloke who had a branch (they claimed tree) fall near his kitchen, a woman who had a power cut for a bit, another woman who had the disgraceful hassle of having to boil water on the hob rather than the kettle and worse of all Dennis who's model railway saw a few trains knocked over.
As for the 4 people who died, which was the real story, very little time was spent on them.
Whilst in other news which went unreported and continues to do so, in DR Congo mass graves were discovered. Oh and Syria still exists, not that you would know since the government lost it's vote on going to war....
The quality of 'news' we get is a disgrace and when anything happens in and around the London area we never get to hear the end of it. Any one would think the UK only consists of London at times

Last year the UK average was 4.8 deaths a day with 63.1 people seriously injured per dayLeTiss 4pm wrote:I tend to agree about the media coverage being excessive. 4 people died - there will be more than 4 deaths most Mondays on the roads
