North East well and truly flying the flag for Covid cases per 100k population, occupying 4 of the top 5 cities and towns in England (and theres quite a difference between cases in Middlesbrough and Blackpool);

Gateshead
South Tyneside
Middlesbrough
Blackpool

To be fair, I live in the North East and the general health of people here is appalling. Not to mention the lack of VitD (although hopefully we've been blessed in that regards this year; until today anyway!)

I'm afraid to say June looks like a wet month according to the monthly forecast, or at least the first half of it.

324 was a large figure for the latest deaths, if the next few are int he same ballpark I'm starting to have fears about what might happen with lockdown being eased.

Lockdown is/was not a cure it was simply a short term attempt to control the rate of infection. 'Herd immunity' was not a false plan and until we achieve herd immunity or find a cure/vaccination we will all eventually be infected or the virus will disappear/die out on it's own.

This line of thinking in Feb/March is why today UK has such an appalling death toll from the deadly virus. DISCREDITED!

There is nothing wrong with that line of thinking. Note I said "achieve herd immunity OR find a cure/vaccination". Until we find a cure/vaccination what else will stop it other than immunity? REALITY!

Trigger warning this speech was given 52 years ago by a deeply flawed person from the political left. Pretty sure most people protesting in London, Dublin, the US.. are genuinely protesting against racism.

However I do think its sad that this poor guys death (murder) has been turned into the worlds biggest bandwagon

Yesterday in London people were protesting against the death of a black guy at the hands of UK police in 2008!!!

Like it or not the media cycle in this part of the world is focused on America so when something like this happens in the States it gets big media attention in the UK and Ireland and riles people up.

There was a protest outside the American embassy here in Dublin a few days ago and a lot of signs saying black lives matter held up by young white kids. On the one hand it was good to see but on the other I was tempted to ask them why there was nobody holding signs up about all the brown lives lost in Yemen and Syria. Younger people now are driven by social media so if it ain't got a hashtag people under 40 don't seem to give a damn unless it directly affects them.

Somebody on the forum posted an image the other day of a map with all the locations around the world where there were protests. What stood out to me was there didn't seem to be any protests in Africa.
