Guys, thanks a lot. After reading your replies I know that I have only 2 options: either find a job or travel to visa-free entry countries :)
That seems like a disappointingly superficial conclusion to draw from this thread? I'm sure you have more options than that.

Sounds like your best bet might be to explore the self-employed angle more, with the keyword there being 'taxable income'. Perhaps even smaller amounts would suffice.

Fortunately we're seen as just being lucky addicts.....

Ironically the biggest addiction in the world is the monthly salary. Seems far worse than any current opioid epidemic?

Forget credit or a mortgage, like most ify non-jobs (eg tarmac gang, drug dealer) you live according to the cash you have in your pocket.
Wouldn't go that far with some of those comparisons, but fully agree that cash is king here.

What May My Bookmaker Ask For In Relation To Proof Of Income?

Your Occupation and Salary.
A recent payslip from your employer.
A recent bank statement that shows your salary being paid in

Non-resident foreigner's who don't want to get a job and come here for the benefits - Best of luck

I see your point but most of my gambling income comes not from the UK sportsbooks but from offshore sportsbooks which means I live in the UK as a tourist because I make money outside the UK but spend money in the UK. So I believe I am not so useless for the UK economy:)

So you want to also be able to travel around the EU indefinitely as a tourist as well.
Fortunately or unfortunately, Brexit put paid to all of that.

Non-EU citizens can stay in the EU for up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa. This applies to the Schengen area, which includes 25 EU countries and 4 non-EU countries.

When do you need a visa? To stay longer than 90 days, To work, and To study.

What are the entry requirements for longer stays?
Check the entry requirements and rules for the country you're visiting
You may need a work permit
You may need to be sponsored by an employer
You may need to apply for a visa

What are the consequences of overstaying? Fines that vary by country, Deportation, and Imprisonment.

The UK are very generous.
Foreigners can come here, legally or illegally, and stay here as long as they want to, no fines, no deportation, no imprisonment, no problem - best of luck !!

Citizens from very few non-EU countries can stay in the EU for up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa. Citizens of the most of non-EU countries in the world need a visa even for a single entry to the EU. So I don't even dream about an indefinite stay in the EU. I apllied for a single-entry tourist visa and my application was rejected.

I'm visiting UK myself, but don't worry, I'm of the right complexion and won't be staying long.

You can stay in the UK as long as you like, I've got absolutely no problem with that

Did I forget to mention, you wont pay any taxes here if you haven't got a job and you get unlimited free use of the NHS
and if your gambling profits go t*ts up you can go down and sign on at the benefits office

What a F*ckn liberty

Cheers Rachel Reeves, I'm off to Dubai - 0% tax

I spoke to an accountant about this once who said 'why not just declare a portion of your winnings (on self assessment)?'
It shocked me they would suggest that and i've always wondered if it would have worked but I wasn't about to risk it given there was a small chance HMRC could decide they would tax all my winnings if I wanted to play that game.

It's certainly useful to have some form of income for credit card/mortgage/child care reasons. I was counted as a 'dependent' when assessing affordability on our mortgage.

That is an absolutely brilliant idea but unfortunately no one is listening to you

The UK's population is projected to increase from currently 69 million to 72.5 million by mid-2032, and 73.7 million by mid-2036.

Dubai's population is currently 3.79 million - 👋 to 40% tax

I might come back to visit now and again but don't worry I don't intend to stay long

Yep, if we swapped our entitled objectionables for foreigners we'd be a lot better off.
