Hi I have been using Bet angel for a couple of years now and have also been on the course. I am semi retired and trade most days just small stakes and tend to lose more than I win, so these changes are unlikely to affect me and I suspect most others. If professionals are choosing to strike / not to trade, use this forum to declare their intention, then you have my full support and I will go along with it. But I am unconvinced this action will make a single bit of difference.

I am also one of those who view these posts seeking and sometimes asking for advise, please do not tar us all with the same brush. I enjoy the challenge of looking for a small edge and any snippet of information that will help is more than welcome.

However in these difficult times I do see an opportunity that may assist both people like myself and professionals. Why don't some of the professionals set up trading courses; one-to-ones, small groups etc. With the loss of income from Betfair this maybe a chance of a lucrative alternative income, whilst helping others to become more affective at their trading.
Thoughts please
regards
David

and thats exactly the attitude alot of people will take unfortunatly and also the attitude Betfair are heavily relying on people taking.

It's up to individuals what they do of cause, but imo why give money to a company that you have already said don't like or want successful traders when presumably you want to be one in the future.
I completely agree freddy but unfortunately I dont make so much money on Betfair that I can afford to join the picket line or move over to Betdaq. I'm very much in the lower leagues of traders and even though I'm improving I'm only just managing to make a living from it.

It is plainly obvious that many of the short sighted traders that are happy to stay with Betfair "because it doesn't effect me......I can still make money" are secretly very happy that many of the "whales" are leaving, as they think they will have a better chance of winning.

I dont think this at all. I believe that the volumes matched are gonna be drastically reduced if the top 500 stay away from Betfair and that will make it tougher for everyone who trades. Even tough I'm not in the same league it almost certainly will affect me because the liquidity probably wont be there anymore. But for me its the lesser of 2 evils, i'm sure I will still earn more on BF than Betdaq. And for the record I think what Betfair are doing is disgraceful just like everyone else.

(Who now couldn't give a toss about anyone but themselves) sneak around forums like this asking questions and getting advice from the Pro's who are good enough to give away their time and in some cases edge to help others.
That can be very annoying but you always have the choice not to give away free tips or your secrets. When I started trading I asked advice and found some of it very helpful but when I got enough cash I went on Peters course which improved my trading dramatically. I dont know your background Mugsgame or your trading level but I think if you were at the lower end of the spectrum like me and most others you wouldnt be so quick to climb onto your soapbox and criticise people for doing what is financially the best option for them.

David, That is a very decent first post and a voice of reason.
Please post more often!

Going on to what you said regarding the influence some of us are trying to bring to bare to move away from Betfair, it made me think that it may come across as a selfish motive. If anyone has read that into any of my posts please forgive me. My intention was not to try to influence anyone to leave BF. That is a judgement you will need to make for yourselves. Just as from my own point of view the situation for me and many others has become untenable.

Of course I am willing to help anyone I can. The fight is against the Bookies and exchanges.....not each other. Whatever Betfair try to market the exchange as (punter v punter) I have never saw it that way. I bet against numbers not people. If that makes sense?

It does make sense but it is not something you read or hear very often. I never look at a profit and then think "I've taken someone's money" I too look only at the numbers.

Thanks for the response. It does not come across as selfish, you and others appear to be doing what you think is the best reaction to today's decision. Some may agree some may not. Betting against people is not of importance, everyone knows that once you are in the market you are fair game; so therefore to me irrelevent.
I would welcome more feedback from others regarding the courses mentioned in my previous posting; I believe whilst previous to today, it would not have been worthwhile for profesionals to train others and pass on closely guarded secrets, today's action opens up a completly new ballgame with benefits to both professionals with a second income and us at the lower end of the scale wishing to learn more.
