Mid Sept and we've had the heating on for a week, there's a battleship grey sky, and everyone outside has got a coat on. This is such a shitty cold expensive country.
We've had a pretty good September compared to last year, it was more like November.

In my opinion, it's not a good idea to wait until it gets cold and then switch your heating on. I set mine to 21ºC on the 1st of September. It's only been on for a 30-60 odd seconds so it doesn't cost anything, and then I gradually turn it down through the winter as it gets colder. :)

Never seen this before. It seems if you accidentally double-click the submit button you send two posts.

I've no intention of emigrating but i do wonder what destinations there are and what their entry criteria are. And also what my "wealth" would buy. But I like the UK. I haven't explored it all. I love mountains but can't get up 'em anymore. I hate heat. So where would go?
Hawaii sounds pretty good. Warm all year round, never gets cold and I don't think it gets too hot.

Where are the idiots who glue themselves to the road when you want them? Joe Biden's in town in his 15-car entourage. :)

Isn't Hawaii a US state?
No chance of me being let in there. Plus being isolated islands in the current climate doesn't seem like a good call.
Perhaps Cuba or another South American country. Everyone and state has their moment in the sun. :)

I wouldn't go to any of the US states. Its just a shame so many viable easy options are off the table now, it's old news but I'll never understand people voting for less freedom. Tbh it's not as if I'd go for certain it's just I had 50+yrs being used to the idea I could.

Oh well, I'm just down about the change of seasons as I don't respond well to winter. 4months of depression every year is no fun.

You've got my sympathy. Don't know about you but I don't remember the last time I wore a tyre out. They all get flats....or perish.

Same. Built in obsolescence ? I did see a post the other day saying you should replace tyres after 3 or so years regardless.

Well you're not alone there, chief. I manage it with an October break, look foward to 21st Dec (shortest day) and the first snowdrop.
Bonus now though is you can walk flat out and not end up dripping with sweat. I'm not selling this well am I?

My lad says its because I buy cheap ones. And tbf until recently I did have four different Chinese ones with names like Goodride, Pirrelike and Dunroll. :D But about 85 quid fitted compared to 200+. I only do about 3k a year so hard to justify good ones.

Camilla: The Queen was in the difficult position of being a solitary woman in a male-dominated world!!

Of course Camilla. She must have been sick of all the sexist abuse and being told to get back in the kitchen!

At least we're not one of the nine million evacuated in Japan.

After today at least the world won't have to listen to people complaining about queue jumping. Or maybe its just the start of a new phenomena? People queuing in banks and at bus stops giving into #queuerage.

Not sure which has been more annoying over the past few days. Those who are genuinely annoyed about people perceived to be jumping the queue or those who have fell hook line and sinker for David Beckhams PR stunt.
