I did really well last year, until the middle of the year.....

It all went, literally, pear-shaped at that point.

Had to have some significant work done on my wisdom teeth, so that stopped me from doing any exercise for a couple of months. I eventually returned from that and started exercising again and then ended up in A&E after a bad mountain bike crash. I'm still suffering the consequences of that four months later.

Anyhow, I'm back behind my desk now after a short break in the sun at an all-inclusive resort. So I'm ready to have a better go at it this year.

A very timely thread!

I would like to lose a few pounds (weight) next month. Ideally a stone by Easter.
I think I put on a stone since this post rather than losing one.
Im trying the quitting drinking route and it has helped very quickly with dropping weight since late December. Also, with absolutely no hard evidence to back it up other than how i feel, I think it has made me a lot sharper during trading sessions.

Since I've been back from hols, I've dropped 4lbs. Always easy at the start! Let's see if I can keep it up for 10 months

I recently found this app: -

https://www.calai.app

Hate something with AI in the title, but it's actually pretty good. So going to use it for the rest of the year.

Seen a few of those. How accurate is it so far?

Update: in summary, I've gone from 74kg in October to <66kg. But I should note a few things.

Initially I took up intermittent fasting without changing much else in my life. For most people IF just means skipping breakfast to allow a longer window between eating, often around 18 hours, which is what I did. I began to lose weight immediately but as often happens this soon led me to want to improve things further, from less snacking and almost cutting out sugar altogether to more regular exercise, so my own experiment isn't very controlled. Nothing radical though and I'm sure that I would have lost most of the weight with IF alone. What's more, I wasn't in especially bad shape to start with so I'm led to believe that everyone should absolutely try IF. It's perfectly safe, very healthy, and I hear that it's extremely easy for most people to stick with.

In addition to the various health benefits, one of my motives was to look better in the mirror! Well, it has made a visible difference, more than a couple of belt notches, so I'm happy overall. Some stubborn belly blubber remains but I think that's to be expected and it should continue to slowly decrease over the course of the year.

Still, in an attempt to speed up the process and for further health benefits, I'm also sold on the idea of the fasting-mimicking diet (FMD). Basically that involves a low protein and calorie intake, which I'll try for up to 5 days. You could carefully plan your meals but apparently 3-4 avocados per day will do it! It's probably not the first thing you'd want to try but after several months of progress with the IF I feel ready to give it a go. Sten Ekberg on youtube has a couple of good videos all about it. I'll be trying it very soon so I can report back again if anyone's interested.

Hope someone finds this helpful and best of luck to the posters here.
