I actually traded cheltenham pretty well but as per usual completely messed up in running on the other 2 courses. Traded too close to the off/got shafted on an sp order and pretty much gave all my cheltenham profit back. Very annoying!! thats 2 days wasted.

Looking at preliminary figures matched bet turnover was down about 10% year on year. I tend not to do the interim races, too much to cope with on a busy day. Will nip in and out but don't tend to do them.

13th March
I found it a bit of a mixed day today. I had a cracking result in the 14:40 (on auto), but lost a fair chunk of it manually trading.
I upped my stakes for the manual trades and I think the mental aspect got the better of me!
Up overall on the day, but a bit disappointed I haven't done better

Just wondered how you guys found it today?

Ive had a bloody nightmare. Did pretty well out of Cheltenham but more than gave it all away at Southwell and Huntingdon, the markets there seemed all over the place and I struggled to get a grip with them. Had some sizable reds and ended the day with my biggest loss for a long time. Not sure whether its just me having had a shocker or the markets were more eratic than normal.

Overall pretty gutted after a decent run of things. :(

Sorry to hear that Walshy.
I'm just going back to normal stakes tomorrow, and see how it goes.
Good luck if your back tomorrow.
Regards
Peter
PS If there is anyone out there running BOTS, I've never found the Chel festival to be that good. SO dont worry. Appreciate that there may be some people out there doing the opp to what I'm doing, so hope someone is making a killing!
I expect the fast picture boys are doing well; i'd love to know how much some of them lads are making! :o

I'm finding it OK... don't want to speak too soon though, only half time so plenty more time for things to go right / wrong depending on whatever mood the Gods are in :)

Has been reasonable compared to previous years... Nothing to get too excited about... Like Peter have been hardly focusing on the interim races this time due to the volatility, have only bothered to look at them with 2/3 minutes to the off... Not sure if it is just me but in previous years the interim races were always worth looking at as the stake sizes from Cheltenham often used to transfer across and increase the stakes used in the other races...

Not sure if it is just one manipulator affecting the interim races... Had found in the last couple of weeks that there seemed to be one person 'bullying' the market, throwing larger £5-£10k amounts on one side of the book only to throw it on the other side moments later, totally ruining the 'trend' on quite a number of races.

From memory this has happened over the last couple of years only to improve after Cheltenham.... although would be interested if any one else has noticed a similar trend over the last few weeks...

I think I have the data at 1second intervals Steve... I can dig it out today if you need it
Herbie that would be great.

Much appreciated.

Steve.

Thanks Peter, yeah I'll be back today just have to tread a little carefully. I think yesterday was particularly volatile at times and I just didnt trade it very well. Have had a pretty good run over the last few months and maybe complacency had crept in a bit. Lesson learned hopefully.

It's curious to see more volume arriving at Cheltenham after Towcester has finished, you really would think that wouldn't make a blind bit of difference.

A lot of the manual trades get their wages on a Thursday>? Maybe that contributes?

I'm finding the whole twcester thing a bit tough. 20 minute build up to towcester and 2 minutes to cheltenham.....I realise hexham has been abandoned but come on! Lunacy!!!!

15 min gap on the next race may help.
