What is wrong with these people? I now have to do some registry fiddling or create yet another account!

Sorry Shaun, was just being facetious there for a momentShaunWhite wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 5:28 pmIf you can access BBC Sounds from where you are there was a great edition of a radio program called The Moral Maze which was about "Is idleness good for us? " and how being busy was a 'virtue' created by the church to keep people out of trouble and industry to improve productivity. Aristoltle on the other hand thought a life lived remote from endless activity was the ideal. Imo Moral Maze is worth the licence fee on its own, it's in its 35th year and the archive should be on the national curriculum.

Yes, like it's being mentioned inside the first minute on that BBC clip there, it's probably frowned upon so much because sloth is one of the seven deadly sins etc.
But one of my actual pet peeves also comes from that list of seven, and probably even tops it : https://www.youtube.com/shorts/7QJ0yUWl0IA
It's the overzealous pride that seems to have taken hold of our society (the Western part of it at least), that sparked all these wokeness and inclusiveness movements, no doubt exacerbated by social media etc. Feels like we're going in the wrong direction as a society, since pride has always been the original first sin that spawned other ones, which basically makes it the essence of all evil. And yet, somehow we ended up celebrating pride and are seeing it as a virtue, while the actual virtue that is supposed to counter it (humility) is seen as a weakness.
You know how things usually go, pride before fall etc... and that's coming from someone that's not even religious.
Kai - what a well reasoned breakdown.Kai wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 7:24 pmSorry Shaun, was just being facetious there for a momentShaunWhite wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 5:28 pmIf you can access BBC Sounds from where you are there was a great edition of a radio program called The Moral Maze which was about "Is idleness good for us? Re - wokeness (looking over my shoulder in case my kids are here!!

For example, irony is now considered bad taste as (and i'm not making this up) it (the ironic statement) might be misconstrued and MAY offend one individual (in the crowd of 100 - and yes i know that this one individual may profess to having issues, but in truth, when i was growing up, we did tend to accommodate our outlier friends, we didn't have strict marshalling boundaries that identified inclusive/exclusive).
Wokeness (when painting by numbers) thus flies in the opposite direction of what was once known as utilitarianism..
it's a fashion/fad and the main proponents will eventually be caught in the same trap that good old Sir Walter Scott described so eloquently in verse:
“Oh, what a tangled web we weave...when first we practice to deceive.”
The deception is on oneself - anywayz...
Heh, in a way we're almost going back to paganism days Jimjimibt wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 11:35 pmit's a fashion/fad and the main proponents will eventually be caught in the same trap that good old Sir Walter Scott described so eloquently in verse:

We're idolizing these false gods on TV and the kids are doing the same on TikTok and Instagram, we're giving all these individuals too much power when it's evident that the average human mind can't handle any of it, without warping and twisting it around, and then we act surprised when it blows back in our face when our kids start identifying as cats or when young adults start making up new genders out of thin air, only to get publicly destroyed by Piers Morgan

Honestly, as a "football god" how do you take no for an answer, from a woman for example? Guys like Ronaldo, Mendy, Partey, Greenwood and a hundred others we'll never know about. This pride and arrogance that is entangled with money and power etc, you just don't know who to blame anymore, for any of it.
And since when has it become mandatory to always include a female pundit in every football match on TV? But before I dare say anything else about this gender-based decision I must include the obligatory "I have nothing against women". So Karen whatshername is really only sitting there because she's "proud to be a woman"? Well if that's her sole qualification then patronizing aside I think that's great for her but I don't know who she is, she is not a legend of the men's game and I don't care for her opinion. Roy Keane and other pundits wish they could say that without getting sacked and cancelled, they're basically being held hostage by all the social justice warriors around them.

Your not gonna believe the week I'm having. First I get locked out of my Betfair account, then I change my BA email to fuck knows what and can't get hold of my reactivation link!
On top of that, I signed up to IDrive in the early hours of Sunday. When I woke up in the afternoon, all that was in my password vault was my password and encryption key, no email address!
I tried signing in with every email address I have but to no avail. It took support two days to find my account from payment details. Somehow I inserted the last 6 digits of my mobile number into my email address.

I'll PM Dallas as soon as I can to see if I can get into my old account.

I should have painted straight out of the tin. There wasn't enough of it, B&M's run out so I'll have to skip the second coat on the back of the shed.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 1:02 pmWhy do you want a liner? Emulsion is water soluble and doesn't even bond with a plastic tray or bucket.
But back to Betfair.... If you can't change your Betfair email address, how has not being able to change it meant you've had to change everything else? Those tv accounts don't even have payment methods registered if its a security thing.
I've painted my shed a shit colour, literally!
