Fair enough Giulio, tbh imho some big posters aren't professionals and some occasional posters are big pro's, so you have a point there...

...but try telling a Formula 1 driver thats its a usless piece of equipment.
Are you being sarcastic?? Or are you genuinely suggesting here is a direct comparison between driving classic cars and F1 cars and trading on betfair???
Nope Jimrobo. Simply acting as Devils Advocate

YOUR preferred style of trading has no call for Stops but YOUR style of trading isn't the only type. Some people take different approaches and mathematically they require stop losses to effect their trading plan.

No one is "right" here. It all depends on your tading method.

I'd agree that it can be dependant on your trading style but one thing that people constantly overlook is that the maximum loss in a betting market is 100% but the maximum profit isn't 100%.

a stop doesn't have to be an automated thing. mental stops require discipline but are better than automated ones for most trading imho.

Hmmm...Apart from all the 6 professionals that have said the same thing!! Trading pre race is all about the ability to read order flow and price action.

getting back to topic, it feels like there are some very aggressive players around this month.

Would be nice if we could keep this on topic and discuss stop losses on another thread!

I'm starting to see patterns in the activity that has occurred this month, still a bit early to draw definite conclusions but slowly getting there. Will look at the volume as Andy suggested further up the thread.

My mentor adviced me not to question here because people are really sensitive about some subjects. My bad. I apologise if I upset someone. Call me a Joke is also a bit unfair. I think I had a point but you guys did not like it and took it as an offense..I did not mean that..The msg was more for newbies that believe blind everything they hear without questioning in general and that's work for just about everything in life..That guy was questioning simply because is not convinced about what he hear and using a word professionals is not just a good reason not to question..
However as I said I don't use stop and loss either but I don't mind to be questioned about my choices even by a kid...and surely I am not going to claim I am professional without showing my P&L 1st...

Apart from yourself of course! I'm guessing that comment is a joke?

Thanks for looking Peter.

Not saying this is related to trading this month but it is definitely worth a read to show the scale of some people and I guess what impact they can be having on how the markets behave:

Peter, also if it is possible I think it would be interesting to see how the amounts matched on the markets per minute compare to normal in say the 5 minutes before the scheduled off. This would give an indication if it is busier or quiter then would be expected at certain points in the build up.

Just did a quick pass on the turnover data and there wasn't anything that stood out on a like for like basis on last month or last year.

Cheers for that, much appreciated. Be interesting to see if the speed the money is coming in has changed as posted above.

agree.

some genuine gambles but many more just seem to get backed and stay backed - Tenure in the 4.15 was a good example.
