Cool, so with my sluggish connection, I just need to get a Sportsbet account and it will feel like I'm back live again :D

I have a feeling that NSW racing will be off tomorrow, VIC blackout, and it will officially be the slowest Saturday of this century...
I bet some of the footy markets will be healthy tomorrow

Ipswich is almost tripling Pakenham, that is just unheard of. At least this will make the parties involved make sure its resolved sooner rather than later.

Hi all, any comments on the influence of the bookmakers prices (the corporates)
on trading in Australia? I'm confused as to whether Betfair prices follow theirs because traders may? Punters I would imagine check to see the bookies price first because they're supposed to be getting around 20% better and I've also heard bookies lay off via Betfair if they're over committed on a runner but I would imagine they would be the smaller on course ones. Then throw in the reduced Betfair pools and Trader activity due to the turnover charge and everything else thats going on (what did we do to deserve this) and I have no idea. Any comments would be appreciated :roll:

Forget looking at the bookmakers price and follow what the exchange is telling you, if anything the bookmakers should be looking at the exchange to get an idea of what punters are thinking and change there books to what they see on the exchange.

I watched a bookmaker on track Stradbroke day at Doomben... He had Sportsbet.com.au open on his phone, and was setting his market :lol:

Yes the days of Brian Ogilvie and other opinion bookmakers are probably gone forever, thanks for the comments. I also pondered if who followed who could be a complex algorithm :D a combination depending on the days of the week and quality of the meeting etc including bookies laying off maybe on Wednesday's and Saturday's but Marko sounds quite sure. I also figure a lot of retired bookies who aren't into gardening would hang out on Betfair via BA etc too, maybe even Brian and Chubby if they're still with us so it could be considered the smart money. I also read a quote where Dominic Beirne said ''AU is a phenomenally intelligent market, punters should seek value letting the market guide them meaning Betfair prices are an excellent source of intelligence'' I suppose too with the Corporates banning all the winning punters they would end up on Bf also but it doesn't appear to be reflected in the pools or money matched :?:

According to racing.com Racing Victoria will be in discussion with Tabcorp over the next 5-10 days to get vision back on Sky.

The interim solution on channel 78(if you can get it) will just be a cut and paste of the racing.com stream. Ludicrous delay included.

That race at Mildura (Race 2) was crazy, absolutely all over the place, luckily got on the right side.

Sure was, I heard the commentator say Jonjonnyjonny was playing up in the mounting yard AND at the barrier in case you missed it

Yes, there was a lot of lay money before then but when people heard that, the layers pushed it from 4.0 to 6.0. I think he started about 2.5 and won comfortably.

Just an observation about in-play, it seems so common of late for leaders to roll off the rail and let winners through on the paint.... Jockeys in NZ used to get hauled in front of the stewards for leaving the rails!! The saying "blew the whistle" is used daily it seems...

*I'm not talking about days when the rails are off, and leaders scout wide
