Barcelona have conceeded just 9 goals this season. Quite remarkable. Reminds me of the Milan team of the early ninties in terms of numbers

Football could go on forever and you'll never see a defense as good as AC Milan's in the late 80's early 90's, Franco Baresi is the best sweeper/central defender I've ever seen.

Indeed so. Epitomised "They shall not pass". But he wasn't crude for the vast majority of the time, he read the game so well, but if it came down to a cynical tackle he was utterly ruthless,
I thought Baresi was brilliant.

The rest of the team wasn't bad either with Ricjard, Van Basten and Gullit  One of the best European teams of all time.

Wouldn't it be great if football teams were handicapped based on how much they spend. Just like the faster horses are handicapped in racing

Decent game for a 0-0 Brighton slighlty unlucky but you've got to take your chances in the big games. The standard of penalty taking seems to be getting better and better, center backs stroking them in like the Brazilian Ronaldo

Didn't that lot also overlap with George Weah? He was like a striker/bulldozer.

There may of been another fantastic striker. You mentioning George Weah (Peter may recall this one  ) reminds of when Graeme Souness spoke to who he thought was George Weah who told him his cousin was a very good player and sign him for Southampton so he did, came on as a sub and was taken back off he was that bad  One of the best football hoaxes of all time

Spurs sacked their manager, replaced him with his assistant and have now sacked him and replaced with his assistant.

Spurs under Levy have the best stadium in the EPL and have flirted wirh the very top standards. So Levy deserves some credit. But it's looking a bit bonkers when you've been through some of the best managers around and are now managerless for the run-in for the top 4.

I didn't laugh. I know a couple of Spurs and they felt after the arrival of Kane and Son and Poch etc it looked like a return to glory for them. But it's all gone a bit wonky for sure.
But it all went a bit wonky for Arsenal and though Arteta has rejuvenated them, they may still fluff it.
Then there's Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd.
What's remarkable is the money these teams have but still manage to underperform.
The abiding standard is Man City. Vast wealth and a talented obsessive manager. That seems to be the formula that works.
And that leaves Howe a bit exposed. He strikes me as dedicated, but a nice guy. That may not be enough.
