Yes as you'd think these crowd closures would last months rather than weeks that they'd have to just carry on instead of delaying.ricardodeano wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 7:19 amWith that and the weather looking windy, as opposed to gale force, surely we're in free money territory now?! Even if the government cancel mass gatherings, you can see Cheltenham following Meydans example and running it behind closed doors. There's always that surprise/last minute, decision/event, that could scupper the trade/bet. Similar to a doing a Devon Loch on the run in. Can never be absolutely certain, that's for sure!ricardodeano wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 7:19 amWith that and the weather looking windy, as opposed to gale force, surely we're in free money territory now?! Latest odds have stabilised, so I'd say, it's probably free money now. The price will retrace a little as there's profit taking....or Let it ride!
Also I read today that there's no restriction being made to incoming flights to the UK. Gives the impression..."let the virus come, we'll deal with it when it arrives....As long as the racecourse provides hand washing and sanitisers, it will help delay a little longer.

i actually think a lot will depend on the incoming daily numbers from the government. it would be irresposible to host huge public events in the face of a rapidly expanding number of cases. a fine balance still to be negotiated i feel... (tbh -not even factoring in the weather, which on its own could scupper the opening day)wearthefoxhat wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 8:30 amThere's always that surprise/last minute, decision/event, that could scupper the trade/bet. Can you have a racing event without a crowd? Not sure what the state of play is with on course SP's anymore.

If Cheltenham was 2-3 weeks aways, then the odds would be similar to the Grand National market.
One thing's for sure, all this is out of our control, although the British still have the "Keep a stiff upper lip" in their DNA.

you won't believe me, but 163 was the ACTUAL number that was buzzing thro my head like a small flea in my ear when i was thinking of the range

and as for tmro, i'm not even going to say 255-265
As I agreed in the prior post 160-165 would be about the right range, given what we know about transmission and detection. Now going to look at the numbers again for going forward.
So the good news is that it isn't getting worse, but the bad news is that it looks like it is headed for much higher numbers.
