Does anyone know of any broad indicators prior to a race that will give an indication of the likely in-play activity? Things that spring to mind are volume matched pre-race, whether the race is televised or not, close betting between several or more runners, number of runners, type of race etc. What I really want to avoid is going in-play when there is relatively little activity.

if pre-race trading is tricky then usually this pattern continues inplay. But the main factor is always liquidity.
Today's inplays were awful.

Thanks Gutami. They were awful for me today after some considerable success on Saturday - hence the question.
