Is it dying off?
I've been 'hobby' dabbling on trading for a while. Unfortuantely my job situation looks like it will change pretty soon, company relocating. This could be the ideal time to try my hand at proper trading full time but there seems to be a lot of negativity about falling liquidity due to this 'XM' thats been employed. So us it worth it to try it or should I just move onto something else. Thanks for any input.

There is always a lot of negativity. I think the best time was the early days - candy and babies come to mind. But there is still plenty of opportunity out there it is just harder to find.
Why not give it a go if you can. Think of it this way - will you look back in years to come and wonder what if? If yes, then give it a go. You only get to live once.

Marshy......you're going to die, we all are
I don't know about you, but I don't want to arrive on my death bed thinking.......I wish I had done that, done this. Invariably, people's biggest regrets are what they didn't do, as opposed to the mistakes they made
I went full-time in June 2008 after being made redundant. I'm still here. Yes, it's changed, it's tougher, but my life surrounds sport and gambling
What more could a bloke want?

My plan was to stop working full time and move down to part time and trade to make up the difference, this was ment to happen 5 months ago...... still working full time
I keep telling myself to go for it, what's the worst that can happen? back working full time no risk really.
Fear of failing that's all it is.

Theres still plenty of opportunity for those willing to put the work in. People will always moan about the state of affairs but that shouldnt stop you doing what you want
And i dont ever remember a time where people said, this is the greatest time. People only ever say that when they look back, funny that

It's definitely not dying off and it's never too late to get involved, I found out that betting exchanges existed in January 2014 and about 8 months later I was trading full time. Although maybe I wouldn't be able to go full time so soon if I was from the UK because life is more expensive over there.
It all depends on your age and personal situation (but also location), whether you have a family or a demanding day job etc. I had quite a bit of savings from my previous employment which gave me the freedom to fully commit and to give trading a real go, I'm aware that's a luxury that few can afford but it does give you the best chance of success. Otherwise it's very difficult and can take many years, so it's definitely not for everyone.
But even if you create the perfect conditions for yourself to try and learn how to trade, success is still not guaranteed and it's still going to be an uphill battle. It's a big decision to make, to take on a project of such magnitude, but it's definitely worth trying at least because the rewards can potentially be life changing.

I pay NI Class 3Zapata wrote:Depending on your age and how many National Insurance Contributions you have made, it may be advisable to keep paying those - or sign on.
I used to pay Class 2, but the Government told me my line of work is non taxable, therefore I'm classified as unemployed/retired, not self-employed
Class 3 is voluntary, but it counts towards your State Pension.
The current rate is £14.10 per week, which I think is quite high
