Prob a dumb question but normally when laying a field on horses the market is 100% so you need to match 2 at less then 2, 3 at less then 3 ect. For the relegation market the book is 300% so do you need to compensate for that?

Book percentage works the same in any market when your laying

100% book need 2 selections @ 2.0 to break even each extra selection = profit
200% book need 4 selections @ 2.0 to break even each extra selection = profit
300% book need 6 selections @ 2.0 to break even each extra selection = profit
400% book need 8 selections @ 2.0 to break even each extra selection = profit
etc

100% book need 3 selections @ 3.0 to break even each extra selection = profit
200% book need 6 selections @ 3.0 to break even each extra selection = profit
300% book need 9 selections @ 3.0 to break even each extra selection = profit
400% book need 12 selections @ 3.0 to break even each extra selection = profit
etc

All you need do is multuply the book % by a set of odds and that gives you the number of selections needed to break even so book of 500% x 4.0 lay odds = 20 selections layed at 4.0 for break even and 21 selections or more for profit.

thanks for the info Dallas. Do you know if past seasons there have been enough teams get into trouble to lay the relegation market?

Not sure i fully understand part of your question (what price has to be used for horse racing place market to lay 3 at min price??)

Each place represents 100% or thereabouts so a 3 place markets is a 300% (well just under)

You'll need to lay at least 4 selections on a 300% book, laying only 3 even at 1.01 if all are placed then there will still be a very small loss.

Laying 4 selections at 1.33 will give a small profit

£10 stakes
Horse 1 placed -£3.30
Horse 2 placed -£3.30
Horse 3 placed -£3.30 (-£9.90)
Horse 4 Unplaced +£10 (Total 10p profit)

Sorry If i have misunderstood your question and ill try and answer again

Its not a market i trade in so really have no idea to your question. If i do trade relegation its only how PW has shown in his vids by laying the team on a poor run and who has just sacked there manager hoping for a change of fortunes
