Hi all,

Looks pretty good if it really is 40Mb down & 10Mb up?

£25/month doesn't sound too bad if it does what it says on the tin!

only if you live next to the exchange! For most people even half that speed will be unobtainable. Thats why cable will always be better. Virgin are already trialling 200Mb

Hi Jimrobo,

Looks like you only have to be near the street box because they have fiber from there to the exchange,& mine is right outside my front door.

'The new service is the result of a decision by BT to install a new fibre optic cable network - replacing the copper wires - to its exchanges and street cabinets across the country.
The actual broadband speed that customers get will largely depend on how far they are from the exchange or street cabinet. The final leg of the connection to the home will be via existing copper cables and this can see a serious deterioration in the speed.'

Wonder if they can test it first before I commit?

ah ok this is the fibre to the cabinet service? I am still unconvinced! I still think virgin will blow them way by having a 200Mb service by he time bt's 40Mb service is out.
