I'm certain there is no hidden feature that I've missed but wondered if there was a way to achieve the following. I'd like to be able to *SAVE* the market data for the 10 minutes leading up to the event until it goes in play and is then suspended. I'd then like to be able to *REPLAY* this saved session as if it were unfolding in real-time (i.e. run it back as often as possible at any point in time, but with a fresh start in terms of my previous trades in the session be nulled out, so that it could be like a virgin session).

The reason for this is that when testing automation strategies, you only really get the chance in the moment to test your parameters and then all too fleetingly, it (and the day) is gone and the process has to be repeated again on an ever evapourating canvas.

So my question really is, can this be done by some nefarious means and if not, would this merit a feature request if it seemed like a demand was present??

For me, this would be a killer way to navigate the subtleties of pre-race trading, with the ability to tweak the automation rules and replay as often as required in order to hone specific strategies for recognised market patterns.

Anyway, back to dreaming :-)

[btw] - i did read thro this thread, so have a fuller understanding of the betfair restrictions on this viewtopic.php?f=20&t=10834

Bet Angel can't include it in the program because Betfair charge for that data via companies like Fracsoft.com. However there's nothing to stop you recording data for personal use only.

Obviously all depends on your abilities as too how far you go, you could simply record the screen with some screen capture software or go the whole hog by linking to excel and using VBA to catch and timestamp the data then replay it later.

Hi There is a software available for this i studied it a couple of months ago,it will replay the race exactly as it happened and you can test out stratagys with it .im sure you can also do it before the race,
but you have to buy the data through the company for each race,i dont remember what it costs but it was cheap,
the problem is i dont know the name of the software or the company,if i get it i will pm to you.
i have so much crap in emails and brouser favs that it would be a project just to find it.but it does exist,

The simplest and cheapest solution is to use one of the spreadsheets that you can get for free on the forum to record and play back data.

We could implement a solution, but, as has been mentioned, Betfair want us to get another license for that.

So using a free spreadsheet to capture the data is the best option.

No data has stuff like fill rate included however, so you need to be aware of that. That's a critical part of the mix and is best achieved through testing directly in the market.

marc -thanks for that. I actually do cull the data via a little .net api app that I whipped up, however, although this is great, my immediate aim had been to play back the session inside guardian rules, rather than the more convoluted route of eyeballing the data and looking at the trends on a graph/looking at the raw numbers etc...

anyway, will keep you posted
