Yesterday, I stumbled across the LinkedIn account of an old work colleague. I was staggered, as his description of the job he done when working UNDER ME is...well how can I put it......LIES - absolute total bullshit, a complete and utter fabrication - both in terms of the role he had, and the achievements he mustered!
Does anyone actually use LinkedIn?
Can anybody be reported or be exposed for lying on their profiles?
Makes a mockery of the whole site in my eyes
It just made me wonder, how much of linkedIn profiles are bullshit?
I was just thinking about how the daily workings of this job could be twisted into making me sound like an International playboy, a successful trader who takes no orders from anyone!

Probably a similar amount to that of CV's - pretty much all of it.LeTiss 4pm wrote:It just made me wonder, how much of linkedIn profiles are bullshit?

Never used LinkedIn - really don't see it being the game changer other people such as Peter thinks it is.

Its sad to stumble upon something like this, but almost all the people do this these days, you just can't get enough of it, I've seen several people act all fake on Linked in, if you want to report him you might find this link useful. Here it is: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/ ... es?lang=en

I'm on LinkedIn but only as a box-ticking exercise.
Like LeTiss mentioned in his first post, I've seen profiles of people I've worked with and some are amongst the finest fiction ever written.
And when someone says: "Connect with me on LinkedIn"
No. I will not.

As far as I concern linkedln profiles can be as fake as the profiles on this forum, no offence, but in the other hand there are some businesses have growth significantly their research thanks to linkedln.
To get attention from head hunters or human resources you have to build a killer profile; if you lied too much about it, the people you will meet to do business with are NOT STUPID and most of the time they realize something is not right about your profile. They will never challange you about your lies, they will simply not hire you and if they did after 6 months you are out.
One company which I do business with saves almost 2 milion a year by searching high level profiles by them self..
650,000 people have been hired by Human resources for high level jobs. 3,500,000 people have been hired as internships. Not to mention the stuggering amount of head hunters getting contracts on linkedn. 42% of linkedn usesr would have stayed UNhappy on previous job if was not for Linkdn.
So you do a little research you will understand why I am so enthusiastic about linkedn.
I also understand why some people don't see the potential. I have friends that don't know how to research on linkedln and others that only do businesses thanks to it..

I echo much of the above. It's a MEDIUM and like any such resource, it will have some truthful and accurate profiles and a lot of utter rubbish. Don't shoot the messenger - Facebook and lots of social media profiles are fantasy in some cases too.giulio2010 wrote:As far as I concern linkedln profiles can be as fake as the profiles on this forum, no offence, but in the other hand there are some businesses have growth significantly their research thanks to linkedln.
