Slightly off topic but how do people cope with 12 hour night shifts as i have just done some and feel like sh**e ?. On a bank holiday weekend when my mates are out drinking.
Is the secret to stop up as late as you can the night before ?
Can you trade Australian horse racing during the night / early hours ?

A bacon sandwich on arriving home.

There is an abundance of medical evidence pointing to the fact that regular and extended working in the hours of darkness and trying to sleep in daylight takes years off one's life.

WE're programmed (by God, or Mother Nature - take your pick) to rise with the sun and work during daylight hours and to sleep when it'd dark.

In the interest of my long term health, I seriously try to get onto day shifts ASAP if I were you, if it's been more than a few weeks of nights.

As for coping, I guess the aforementioned bacon sandwich, followed by a bedroom with blackout blinds or curtains and silence to allow you to restore some vigour?

I've done alternating shift work for 30 years.

I cope.

I will die early.
