Hi Dallas & BA messageboard
I've built myself a rule to lay the fav at the off then green up 4 ticks higher in running, with a smaller lay bet being placed at 50's to green up later in the race.
With the first rule it fires ok but sometimes reverses before its greened up. Can you tinker with it to ensure it does not reverse please.
When laying at 50's I'm aware not every lay bet will be matched if the horse falls etc but is there any way I can increase the placed bets on this rule. I don't mind if the lay bet gets taken a bit higher than 50's it's getting it matched is the problem!!!
I've attached the file, being a novice at this if you think of any other safegurds please feel free to suggest or add them to the programme.
I'm not after making millions just some steady spending money I can increase over time. I look forward to hearing from yourself and anyone else who can help me.
Cheers

Had a quick look, not sure what you mean by ‘Sometimes reverses before green up’?

If it’s that the offset, is sometimes matched before the opening lay is then I have ticked the fill/kill option which will mean the offset is only placed after the lay is matched.

If you mean it’s being stopped out before being greened up that’s just the nature of the market, stop losses are not really recommended IR due to the volatility so your only option here is to allow more ticks for the stop, and if doing that to increase the chance of it working and being matched I would change the ‘place at’ to a higher number than the ‘trigger at’

See this thread for details on why.

On the drifter rule it was applied to Betfair row 1, so have changed this to ‘Position 1 in order of fav’, it’s only the same horse that will be layed if it drifts, I have also changed this to a fill/kill for same reasons as above.

The only way of increasing the number of matches with this type of lay is to trigger the bet at lower odds than the lay is placed (at the moment its triggering and laying at 48), the higher its placed at the bigger the risk should it come back and win though.

Indeed. Layed at 10s, he went out to 40s then boom! my stop loss at 3s was triggered (resulting in a loss) yet the horse was never higher than 5th IP...

Try as I might I can't seem to consistently capitalise on the crazy gaps that appear in the last 100 yards of close races IP.

Hi Dallas,

Thanks for the info sorry I've been away all day and not looked at the programme hence why I didn't know you had replyed, I'm not using stop loss or triling stop loss.
I will try the modified version tomorrow that may sort out the issues, thanks again for all your help.

Hi Dallas,

The programme worked to a certin extent today but on a number of races it either lost the back bet after a few seconds or reversed the back bet to 8 ticks below the lay bet creating a loss. Can you help please.
I've attached the bot.

Thanks in advance.

Just increase the fill/kill time if the bets are canclling before being matched, same goes for your stop loss just increase the number of ticks used - probelm with any sort of stop in play is they can be triggered quiet easily only for the price to then bounce so most people wont use them

Hi Dallas,

I've been trileing out my bot but find there are issues, there were 8 races today where I lost but that should have only been two.
Uttox 1.40 Templehills £125.60
Plump 4.30 Little Windmill £195.85

The others
Gowran Park 2.20 Wayside Flower £22.09
Gowran Park 3.50 Modern Tutor £110.44
Gowran Park 5.50 Ample Sufficiency £2.31
Plumpton 3.00 Mr Burgess £71.23
Plumpton 4.00 Knight Batchelor £292.53
Uttoxetor 4.40 Brunton Blue .38 Pulled up

The others above finished anywhere between second and pulled up is there any reason why they didn't green up? is the reason for this my green bet is so far away from my opening bet at 50-1?
As I'm only in practice mode there's no issue, is there any way I can limit my losses on the two or three horses that don't green up on my original trade?

I look forward to hearing your and other traders thoughts my prog is below.

Thanks in advance

Matt

Looking at the IP lows of the biggest two losers they both traded odds on after been layed this could of been for just a nono second but enough to trigger and have your stops matched, which is why they are not really recommended in-play especially in the closing stages when the odds really bounce around.

Personally i have never tried laying at high odds so you ll just need to experiement with different triggers, offsets and stop losses to see what you come up with.

Hi Dallas @ BA Messageboard,
I've created a new rule to back every horse in running at 6 then green a little further in. I only want the rule to fire once on each horse if the back price reaches 6 or below in running. The issue is the rule is not fireing can you help please.

Cheers

You have the rule set to be armed between 1-5 seconds after post time but a condition to only let it trigger if the race is in-play, just changing the arm time till after its gone in play is all thats needed.

Hi Dallas,
I've looked at the automation log and found three problems. I have added the three rules below.
1. It's throwing in extra orders when the trades have greened up.
2. The second issue relates to autoclose then placing bets to turn trades red the last two attachments.
3. The third issue I will attach to my next email. If you can put the three rules correct the last issue which I will send you maybe able to answer without changing anything.

It's so frustrating when everything is so close!!!

Hi Dallas,

My last point is when the rules have done there work but there is still one horse is red, if the horse does not win and one of the others which has greened up does do I win the greened ammount or is the red amount split between all runners. If this is an issue could you change it in the files please.

Thanks for your constant advise and help.

From the times shown on your matched bets it looks like you have your arm trigger on your lays/greening bets set to 1 sec.
If so its triggering the 2nd before the first has reached the market due to the in-play delay so would always advise using at least 2 secs for this.

You only get the P/L shown on the selection that wins the race
