No.
The physical act of kicking a ball, regardless how skillful the player may be, can never justify more salary than a Prime Minister or President of a NATION!
Personally I think that player agents should be outlawed and some cap placed on the salaries too.

A footballer or anything else for that matter is worth what someone else is prepared to pay for them or it. Man U have come to the opinion that Pogs is worth £90M only time will tell if that opinion is correct or not.
Many people get disgusted with the amount of money floating around the football industry at the elite level, but that is the system we have and although when one compares what a premier league football player earns with what say a nurse earns it does seem obscene, that is the way markets work.
So when you ask is any footballer worth £90m then I say yes, because teams (companies) will pay that kind of money for those who are assumed to be world class.

In an ideal world yes, but in the real world no. Don't forget when Man U buy someone like Pods they will try and exploit all of his marketing potential world wide. I can't remember the exact details but when many world class players have signed for large fees in the past, the teams have made back the money and more within a year or two due to increase in sales of all kinds of things associated with the club.Crazyskier wrote: The physical act of kicking a ball, regardless how skillful the player may be, can never justify more salary than a Prime Minister or President of a NATION!

We must all strive for an ideal world, or what's the point?Bluesky wrote:In an ideal world yes, but in the real world no.Crazyskier wrote: The physical act of kicking a ball, regardless how skillful the player may be, can never justify more salary than a Prime Minister or President of a NATION!

Agree with Dallas, not worth it unless they're single handedly winning the league and champions league yearly.
Off the pitch, easily worth it if they bring enough merchandising to the clubs coffers. Go to pretty much any country in the world and you'll see a Messi or Ronaldo shirt on someones back.
