Out of interest does anyone remember this guy, or get to read his 'Be a successful punter' book, which used his Fineform Rating Forumla?

I read it in 1989, and had snippets of success

IIRC, it involved picking races where every horse had ran twice this season. He awarded the following points based on their last two performances

5 points - 1st place
3 points - 2nd place
2 points - 3rd place
1 point - 4th place

1 point - previous course winner
2 points - previous distance winner

He also incorporated an interesting staking system, including NEVER backing a horse below Evens

I'm sure you could find copies on eBay or Amazon

Yes remember it well. Bought it when it was referred to as
the "little red wizzard" now thats going back!
He use to put big ads in raceform handicap paper every week
detailing the successes, particulary the fineform maximums.
He updated over the years which eventually became winners back winners think it was called? He ran tipping lines as well....Then just vanished! Not sure if he passed.

Wow that takes me back a bit, must be over 20years ago. That was back in the days of running round the hight street at 9am checking each shop for value, and trying to beat 9% commission + 25% overround. No wonder it was a struggle. I seem to remember Clive cost me a bob or two.

I read all of his books, also subscribed to his Saturday information - now that was insider info at it's best.

I used to have his book "Winners back winners", can't have been much good as I binned it years ago :)

I remember back in the day there used to be a guy called Keith Nicholson(?) who used to pirate all the subscription/telephone tipsters like Isiris etc on his own tipping line and also used to photocopy and sell on their systems.

One of the first books on betting I bought -

The Fineform Max was supposed to be 50% strike rate

Southwell's AW track is still good for it & maybe specialist tracks like Cheltenham
