I have been looking at horse racing and when there is a photo finish.
Does anyone here place bets when photo finishes come up, as can see who the winner is and still place bets before market gets suspends. Can you give me any info.
Also can this be automated with betangel?
Something like if the market suspends and reopens (should be a photo) then back bet on horse with lowest odds.

Personally I don't bet on the photo finish but I do hedge up a profit on a photo finish sometimes.
There are definitely opportunities on them.
Yep pretty sure you can automate that but wouldn't be the best person to advise.

Automation will be hard because as you mention you saw that horse X won. Betangel can't automate what you see, unless you ask the team if they can get you a neural uplink.
Several years ago I ran a bot that would lay every horse at very low prices. By entering the orders very early I had a good spot in the queue. Surprisingly often I got executions on two and sometimes even three horses in the same race. For a while it was enough to offset the small losses and still make some money, but the method became to popular or maybe something else changed. I have no idea if it would work nowadays, although I suspect not

If you think you can consistantly spot a winner from the tv screen when people on the line still think it's a 1.1 then good luck to you. A hot photo-favourite was beaten only last week (week before?) if my memory serves me correctly. Maybe you remember which one it was. If you've been looking into photo finishes then you'll probably have better info on it than me, so any info you have on the win rate of photo-favourites would be gratefully received

Personally I think the opportunity a photo finish presents is in the chaotic nature of the market which ensues, rather than any straight backing strategy. But I'm only guessing.
Excel would be easy as you have the timer, trigger if suspended and timer over 30 seconds, then place order if the market opens. Fairly sure Dallas is loading up a guardian rule for it as I type
Will it be profitable? I doubt it as I have a strategy which pretty much does the opposite...
