You dont need you laptop on permentently when you close down your VPS just use the cross at the top of the screen - that will disconnect you (your laptop) from it but leave the VPS running - along with Bet Angel and what ever else you have going.
The VPS its self only needs a restart every few weeks otherwise it can just be left running and you just log on and off when you want.

If downloading any of those you need to be logged onto your VPS and open up IE on thier and navigate to the forum using that - otherwise you'll download them to your laptop then have to transfer the to your VPS via dropbox or similar
