I've been thinking about using my Paypal account to withdraw surplus BF monies, mainly to avoid "Betfair" appearing on my bank statements. Are there any gotchas to be aware of?

I do it, no fees on the withdrawal only the initial deposit assuming you don't need a currency conversion, although lumpy paypal deposits can still look suspicious.

Oh, I think it'll be a while before anything gets even close to lumpy. :)

I can't remember whether it was this forum or not, but I have a vague recollection of there being some issue with withdrawals to a different payment method than was used to deposit. Does that ring a bell with anyone?

Ah, yes! Your encyclopaedic knowledge to the rescue once again. Cheers Dallas.

So it looks like I've got nothing to worry about.
