Hi,
Is there any benefit to randomly entering back and lay bets at the same odds in-running ?
I have often thought about this but dismissed it because you would be matching your own bets. But in a fast moving market like 5f horse race maybe you would be able to nick some profit.
Any thoughts or does BF cross matching kill this idea ?
Cheers,
Question / Maybe a really dumb one though

From what i can gather from your explanation it will be pointless as if any winnings were possible from this it would me fractional (pennys maybe) but i think what you would described would just cancel out and have 0.00 as a hedge? Maybe even a small loss on winnings with commision. Maybe somebody else can chime in but i think it would be a waste of time better spent elsewhere!

I believe someone on here does something very similar in-running and is fairly profitable. But I don't know what rules he/she uses. I think he has a 1 second fill/kill rule on the trades.Rstrach wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2017 8:26 amHi Cybernet,cybernet69 wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2017 11:15 pmHi,

An easy to follow one is catching a steamer!
i think this may stand a chance if you were to factor in the a combo of book% and gap between back/lay odds, however, at straight odds and not offering a price, it seems dubious as to whether you'd just end up with orphaned back/lay bets littered on the path up/down the bid tree.cybernet69 wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2017 11:01 amI believe someone on here does something very similar in-running and is fairly profitable. I was thinking to enter trades when/if the following occurs using a 1 second fill/kill order:
1. (back book % - lay book %) is > 10
2. There is also 10 tick difference between the back/lay price on a selection
Cheers,
Cybernet,
Apologies i totally misunderstood the question being asked hence my blunt unhelpful answer! From what i now gather i am sure i have seen traders on here mention this technique before. I will link if i manage to find the thread..

this is pretty much the starting point i'd look at. don't be surprised to find that gaps of even 1-2 ODDS can also present great value when combined with a few other limiting conditions. won't fire every race, but will present a nice opportunity to determine exit strategy once you've observed a few.cybernet69 wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2017 11:52 amThanks Jim.jimibt wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2017 11:09 ami think this may stand a chance if you were to factor in the a combo of book% and gap between back/lay odds, however, at straight odds and not offering a price, it seems dubious as to whether you'd just end up with orphaned back/lay bets littered on the path up/down the bid tree.cybernet69 wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2017 11:01 amI believe someone on here does something very similar in-running and is fairly profitable.
