Hi, Please could anyone tell me if they know wither or not 3.9mb/s is an adequate speed for scalping pre race; horse racing markets. I've been successfully trading with a speed of 7mb/s but my speed dropped to 3.9mb/s this morning (may take a few days to improve) and I'm wondering if I should still trade while it's slow? thanks.

Yep, I used to trade with a 2mb connection.

3.9mbps is your bandwidth, it is a measure of how much data you can download in a second.

The number you are really concerned about is latency: how long it takes for that data to reach you. In other words, you could have a 1GBps connection, but if it had 10 seconds lag time for requests, then that would clearly be no good for anything which required near real-time responses. In your attached screenshot, you'll see that you've got a ping time of 41ms, which is perfectly adequate for trading.

IMO, you should be no worse off with 3.9mbps than you were with ~8mbps, as your latency times are presumably the same.

You can check your latency at the bottom of the bet angel screen, near the big red 'R'.

As ck99 says its your ping time that matters, on the speedtest.net site theres a link to their new site pingtest. Give that a go, it will give you a rating for your connection.
