I am still wiping the tears from my eyes as Big Mac makes himself look a total buffoon again!
He is stood there as some great friend of the punter talking about digital odds. He wandered up to the first bookmaker at Ascot to show digital odds...Banks I think? They have 0.33 on the board and Big Mac says "Burlington Bertie on..100/30 on!"
He later reappeared with Jason Weaver and a guy from Ladbrokes and he talks like an expert on digital odds saying they wont be adding 1 like Betfair.
So am I the sucker at the Poker Table? I am sure that when I went to school 30/100 = 0.30 and in fact 1/3 = 0.33
So it's a great start for Racing for Change and made even better by Buffoon McCririck.
Big Mac - Digital odds are simple...he says!!

It just gets better! Now we have Brylcream Boy Matt Chappers trying his best to explain the fractional side of things. As is typical of this guy he has to be cocky and sarcastic about it. So he makes comments like "8/1 - so you place £1 and you get £8 back, it's tricky isn't it!"
He repeats this with other simple whole numbers and then they show the price of Zebedee in the 2:10 Ascot. There is a pause because he cannot work it out then he says "I am not sure if they are going 1.33 or 1.30 for 1/3"
The price then flipped over from fraction to decimal and he said "Ah there you go 1/3 is 1.33" GENIUS Matt...go the top of the class but pretend you're a lap behind!! That totally contradicts Big Mac's earlier explanation of 0.33
Where do they find these people? Classic comedy at it's very best!

Good to see the fat oaths time on air is being cut:

Jim seems to think John is great for racing just like he thinks he himself is a great commentator

It will be interesting if Big Mac turns his hand to punting or trading, now Channel 4 have freed up his schedule...
Who knows, he might even appear on this forum!

Best news I have had in ages!!
I exchange emails with ATR, Tanya Stevenson and a few others in the racing media. I don't pretend to know them but I have some healthy banter. I have told them many times that I simply refuse to watch any TV show if that Old Dinosaur is appearing.
I cannot believe that Goodwood insist on having him as does the Morning Line - they really must be holding onto the line that any publicity is good publicity.
I always keep hearing that he's a failed punter, a failed bookmaker and now it appears the media world has caught up with him!

I think Big Mac is a bit of a Marmite character - you either love him or hate him! I like the guy, but I can see why he might wind up some people!
