To be honest I think she was, riding in a race is nothing like riding out in the mornings. I think she was so tired she was having to use the reins to maintain her balance and was leaning against them.
I think the ban she got was harsh, I think she should have been banned but at the lower end of the scale rather than the higher end. She has been effectively been banned as it says in the article for 6 months which is too much.
Yes she should have been fitter but trying to get race riding fit is very very difficult especially when it is your first ride. However, I still think she could have flapped her arms a little or something.

Completely agree with that!! There is no way that she wasn't trying, she was just knackered and it is totally unfair that she is banned for effectively 6months, Now people that have backed it might feel differen? But you have to expect that you're not going to get the quality of ride that you would from a murtagh or fallon!!!!andyfuller wrote:To be honest I think she was, riding in a race is nothing like riding out in the mornings. So therefore shouldn't be too critical.

All jockeys whether first ride or not are there to do a job and failing to do that because she was exhausted is no excuse. All jockeys should be treated equally and in my opinion were correct to give a lengthy ban.
I'm actually in favour of increasing suspensions with shorter delays.

So why do we have Professional, Amateur and Apprentice Jockey's?TheRiddler wrote:All jockeys should be treated equally
I think it's a bit unfair to expect the same standards from a debutant as you would from a seasoned pro. If you've nothing left in the tank, then you've nothing left in the tank...
Even if this jockey hadn't been punished, she will not have enjoyed being found wanting, and will make sure she is fitter next time she rides.
