Well today was something of a first. I have several hundred horses on a database and they flag up when they are entered. Today I didn't have a single horse flagged up!

I agree on that one too!
I had £1500 sat waiting to be filled on Cool Running. I had £781 left and it just sat there
It hadn't moved away from me in terms of price it just seemed that nobody was willing to continue on matching my order
I got it filled and suddenly everyone seemed to wake up and the price shot in by about 5 ticks!!

Monday to Monday I have started with £143 I have withdrawn £980 yesterday ( £360 tx to jollyg alone). Today I have started with £100 already down £50. only 2 successull trades so far... some big cash were traded 1 hour prior some race ( 10K 12K come in and out). Today you lay it goes straight up against you, you back goes 10ticks against you as fast as the speed of light...

Well I offered just £300 at 5.90 in the 5:00 Bath race. It sat there for what seemed an eternity. There were two orders at £150 each. I managed to get just £150 matched and then the price moved up as expected. That was okay but just look at how many people had a chunk of my order!!

Hi BA
You're looking at it from the wrong angle IMHO.
I laid £300 at 5.90 but the total liability can only be realised if I leave the completed position open. So if I had the full £300 matched left it in the market and the horse went on to win then I would be up s**t Creek without a paddle so to speak.
However, I had checked the market and felt as certain as I could that the price was going to drift. There was plenty of money lined up behind me and my only concern was getting matched before the price headed off above 6.00. I should have placed the orders closer together but I guess there was about 20 seconds between them. I had the first £150 matched and then the price took off as expected - well that is a slight exaggeration but it did move to 6.40 very quickly as the resistance close to 6.00 was broken down.
If it had moved against me I would have checked the money to see if it was temporary e.g. people trading out, or if it really was genuine support.
Now that was a situation where you needed the TV pictures - when they interviewed the owner of Baddam he was non-committal and then the layers got stuck in.
Am I laid back? I have learned to relax when trading but trust me I still have the odd moment!!
You need to switch off and just look at the numbers without thinking "OMG I have a £1500 liability on this one!"
I'm from a family of psychopaths
so if I can do it anyone can!
You do need to be level headed though - getting excited about a winner is not a good idea as it means you are sure to get annoyed with a loser!

Yes, he was around a lot today. I locked horns with him in one race but I don't think either of us one that one. But the market pinged around once we had both put our swords away. Didn't grab images of all them lately but will post up a few that were more interesting.
