I would also say it was neither of them - just one of those occurrence that happen from time to time.

it certainly was strange. For some reason I can't attach the bf graph but it looks fantastic, the perfect 'V'!

Another nice instalment to your new house I hope Andy?!?

Yeah did alright out of it thanks. The house fund is all won now :D Though I won't be buying until some stage next year.

Just carrying on flat out through the summer to build up a cushion in case things were to go tits up at some stage in the future and also so I can afford to take a good bit of time off next year.

Good luck with the house but you will never have enough (cash) if you want a woman to help you fill it

This very person was around last week - seems to chase the money down very early and be very impatient.

Not complaining though as it was a good end to the day!

Very true

There also seems to be something a bit odd going on but not sure what really. Seems to be some big amounts being thrown on some horses taking out several ticks but has a different M.O. to the mad bomber etc but has made tonight good fun and profitable to trade :)

The odd thing on the 8.10 at Cartmal was 24 mins before the off, the "magic mad layer" with his money was there and coming in a few ticks out of the money, then disappearing again, only to re appear, milli seconds later, at another price (always out of the money).

These were large and "random" amounts of cash. Always out of the money, all lay bets and all never taken (at the time, the market had not formed properly).

There's been a lot of speculation in various posts about this behaviour.....but do we have anything "solid" as to a serious theory ??

A mad bot ?

Betfair for some reason ?

A mad Arab prince on crack ....with a "unsure" idea of were to lay his money...and a dodgy currency convertor calculator ???

The population of Greece, trying to sort out there defict, with "fingers crossed" lay punts....and a disagreement of where to place it ???

The speed at which the money comes in and then goes ....and then re appears, is bizarre....
As is the amounts 7988, 4562, 8645, etc, etc, etc....

All very odd. So guys. Any ideas ?

Tbh I don't have a clue why/who (they) do it - it would seem to be automated due to the speed, which indicates som level of knowledge of Betfair rather than just some stupid footballer chucking money around. But if it were a bot going wrong surely it wouldn't happen again after the first time as the owner would fix it?

Also it is clearly someone with a sizeable bank due to the amounts being used.

But as I say I haven't a clue as to why :!:

The plot thickens !

As you say, if it were a bot, then surely someone would have checked on it by now...and re set it !

And I agree, it can't be "human" due to the speed and randomness of the figures.

On "Mutual friend", as the market formed, the price was bound to come in....and then hit one of these random lays at some point, if it continued laying away at that point, then the price would be hammered in.

At that point, it must of ran out of cash...as the price takes a nice drift back out again, which it then did.

Its a damn crazy bot...and must be costing someone a fortune. It seems like we may have found ou what happened to the UK GDP !

On a seriuos note, would love to find out who it is...just to ask, "what the hell is your strategy ???"
He might anwser.... "I'm Napaleon...and I intend to invade Russia this winter" !!!

One thing to perhaps bear in mind with all the odd activity that we see is that perhaps there is no strategy some of the time - I think sometimes we forget that not everyone using Betfair is trading or betting with a strategy and to make money. For some it is just fun, the sums are big but to some they are not. Think about these people that go to Vegas just to blow millions in a weekend in the search of fun.

I agree with you there, but the 8.10 at Carmel or a table at The Stratoshere Hotel !

Its the speed and various sizes of the bets are what are most bizarre.

It has to be working on some kind of "strategy". Not trading, some kind of "pure maths" type dutching maybe ? that is trying to "pick up" on best prices...? But the Lord only knows what it is !

I must admit, watching "it", I was quite "spellbound" by it !

My thoughts on Mutual Friend's price was probably helped by "it" ....and which in turn, then created the other opportunity for the madian return.
