Are Betfair trading the horse racing markets?

The sport of kings.

Well, they are as the horse racing multiples means that they have to.

But my big question is whether they are deliberately influencing the price. On Royal Ascot the money as SP seems quite small before the off. Just after the off there is suddenly a huge amount of money at SP. This is probably the multiple trading team dumping money into the market but the problem is it is distoring the SP. Only Betfair know how much they have at SP so is it fair they they hide the true volume from the market before the off. It's not a level playing field.

Please tell me if I am barking up the wrong tree here?

I'm sure the Bet Angel guys could capture some data for you to see if this is true?

I remember reading somewhere, that the major bookmakers use betfair and to to a lesser degree betdaq, to balance up their book
