There already is one
https://www.betangel.com/betdaq/

If you mean have all the same features then not in the foreseeable future the main reason being there is just not enough people or demand to Warrent the time and costs.

A few years ago alot if time and money was invested in it to bring it in line with the Pro version for Betfair at the time and despite it still being free very few users made the switch to using Betdaq and instead continued to use the Bet fair version.

I would be great to see Betdaq become a real rival to Betfair but I think that time has now come and gone and the chances of them ever becoming a real alternative are very slim at the moment.

I've only been around the betting/trading scene the past few years so I don't know what's been before....At what time frame would you say they had a chance of becoming a real alternative?

...lets hypothetically say, an asteroid landed on Betfairs HQ killing everyone involved (except for us)...what do you think would happen then?

or what would it take for Betdaq to take a greater marketshare than Betfair?

Being first to market gives you an enormous advantage as your name becomes synonymous with the product. I think Betdaq's best chance was probably in their first 2 or 3 yrs while they were the new kid on the block.

I don't know about Paddy Power but that's the type of scenario big companies plan for, "back in the day" our alternate facility was situated on another continent and even had it's own power station. Disaster recovery really ramped up just after 9/11 so don't worry, Betfair should be asteroid proof. :)

Yep and a hoover is probably the best example of all. But the actual name itself can also help. "Betfair" suggests fair betting … simple, but WTF does "Betdaq" stand for? What is a "daq"? Most successful brand names either say something about the product or are totally remote from it and with the influx of new businesses from the Internet came a wave of unrelated product names. For me "Betdaq" is neither, it's partly name related and partly not name related.

And I think the no-frills Betfair 2% service will be the death knell for Betdaq's hopes of growing.

Daq could be short for Data Aquisition.

Data acquisition has been understood as the process of gathering, filtering, and cleaning data, then converts into digital numeric values that can be manipulated by a computer.

The 2% Betfair promo will probably get withdrawn once Betdaq drops away.

Or perhaps its "Dealers Automated Quotations" as in nasdaq?
So trying to gain status from an estalished stock exchange.

As an uneducated person, that's what I had in my mind...taken from nasdaq...not sure sure others would form that conclusion tho.. A quick google doesn't really tell me either...nor their website...and... now I've lost interest :)
