Hi

I noticed that one race today went inplay immediately after the 30sec warning. Does this happen often? I had already greened and was about to move on anyway but if I am automating should I being greening earlier?

Thanks
Ian

Almost never as they get fined heavily. You probably have your clock set incorrectly or you are on a US market, where the off times are almost completely random.

Australia gets worryingly close to going off early, but the only time I thought it happened my clock was a few seconds slow.

This seems to happen to me every few days on some Australian racing markets. I know because my bots fail to green up and when I check the logs it's gone in-play early. The other day one went in-play nearly 3 minutes early! My clocks are synced up correctly and >99% of races seem to go in-play correctly. Here's the log for for Laun (AUS) 17th Nov - 07_23 R1 2200m Pace M. There was one 30 secs early yesterday.

It's even happened on very rare occasions in the UK and Ireland. On those occasions the commentator's have sounded surprised but the results have stood and you never really heard anything more about it, but as Euler said apparently they get fined. It's possible though that the rules are different in other countries and there may be some flexibility allowed if they're within say 30 seconds of the off?

Another one today, R6 at PtPr was supposed to start at 10:25 and went in play over 3 mins early!

Many thanks for your replies.

For me, I think this is user error on my part as syncing my clock today shifted time by a minute so Euler is probably right with his comment. I will need to automate a time sync on a regular basis.

The race I think was the first at ChelmC

I also realise I have this information as it should be in the Betfair historic data BASIC download. I just need to get a move on making that queryable.

Anyway thanks again

I've just had a look and that race was due off at 11.30 not 11.34 - and I noticed something similar at Geraldton yesterday where every race had been moved a minute closer than what was loaded in guardian the day before (that is a very rare case in racing but imagine it happens a bit in harness?)

Thanks for that, that's probably the issue.

Yes a pain in the arse though to solve but you could always just put the main ones on that are unlikely to change their times (Melton, Gloucester Park, Globe Derby, Albion Park)
