hi,

I'm new to this....
If i'm laying the field, and I want to protect against some unmatched lays, what should I do?

I'm using betangel trader.

many thanks

On the manual bet tab, I read that the green button causes the close buttons to automatically green up. I believe this means placing an opposite bet at current prices (ie back to a previous lay, or lay to a previous back). Is this correct?

ive also read that green up is equivalent to cash out on betfair website.
But cash out on betfair website performs multiple bets on potentially the whole field of participants/outcomes.
also, betfair website displays the overall profit/loss for a cash out operation. where is the equivalent value on the manual bet tab?

if the green checkbox is not ticked. What does the close button do?

Thanks
Martin

You can't "protect" against backers not taking your offers. If you find yourself in such a position you can offer the backers a price they will take on those selections that you still need to make up your book - just like a bookie! You can close the trades on all the bets you have taken, either way it is likely that you'll be accepting at best a reduced profit but more likely a loss. Then I would recommend reviewing your strategy especially if it requires all selections to be matched.

You've said you're new to this - laying the field is not the most common place to start and has many dangers especially if its not as part of a thought out strategy.
