Hi, I'm curious. So currently the coronavirus is causing problems in China and UK has small number of infections, this could change. So what happens when all games are postponed due to the virus. This might take months and by then 2020 euros soon. Will Liverpool be crowned champions even though season is not complete??
Thanks
Can coronavirus stop Liverpool winning the league???

The 30 year wait would still go on!!!alonzoharris wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2020 9:37 amHi, I'm curious. Agree, the knock on effect of that would be cancelling the Euro 2020 (12.Jun-->12Jul) and then the Olympics (Tokyo) (24.July-->9.Aug)

I'd imagine that the games could be played out "behind closed doors" but still televised if drastic measures had to be taken, things like that happened elsewhere previously with similar pandemics.
But UK and other countries should be much more equipped to deal with such an outbreak, compared to communist China who are more worried about suppressing bad press than the virus itself, the doctor that first warned them about the virus months ago was arrested and told to stfu, poor guy had to die to prove his point. I wouldn't trust their numbers at all, the situation over there is probably more dire than the numbers suggests, they can't even test everyone properly so ill people that end up dying don't get accounted for.
Hopefully the death rate drops to 0 soon, but no matter how you look at it this outbreak will have lasting consequences, less economy, more racism etc. Footballers will stop going to Chinese clubs for one.

The Corona virus won't stop us winning the league... but the end of the world might!

But this is already the third coronavirus outbreak in the last 2 decades, like MERS before this, and SARS that came from China as well. Plus there's 4 milder ones that have been circulating around for a long time, if you've ever had a cold or something chances are you already had one of the those 4 coronaviruses

I'm no virologist but afaik the more it spreads the higher the chance it can mutate into something harmless as well, because biologically speaking the virus is fighting for its own survival and killing his host would be far from an ideal scenario to achieve that.
On a more serious note, you would think that Corona Beer would rebrand and change their name by now, but nope.

yup -if good taste wasn't a consideration (on both counts)northbound wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2020 9:31 amCorona: We got the beer bug.
Surely such a campaign would go viral...

Viral for all the wrong reasons for sure, would be seen as just a tad bit insensitive. Saw a recent surge in "corona beer virus" on Google Trends so that's why I mentioned it.northbound wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2020 9:31 amCorona: We got the beer bug.

Speaking of insensitive I really shouldn't crack any jokes about the topic, apologies if it caused any offense, hard to look at the bright side of life when there really isn't one and wasn't really aware of how serious things have gotten over there. In the grand scheme of things maybe it sparks a revolution against their oppressive regime, China is due a revolution I think, they do keep arresting/silencing critics and censoring anyone reporting on the real situation so no shortage of martyrs.
Been since monitoring the situation here (https://www.who.int/emergencies/disease ... on-reports), 1368+ deaths inside China and 1 death outside thus far. Reminded me of something Joe Stalin (Mr. Insensitive himself) once said : "A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic". Judging by the data it won't get much better any time soon, with the first vaccines probably coming around summer and maybe commercially available by the end of the year. Hopefully Africa and other poorer regions don't get hit in the meantime, they would be pretty defenseless at this point.
Nevermind Liverpool! This new coronavirus could be truly awful for us as humans and our economy if it gets a hold and spreads expotentially.
