Anyone know how to detect which horse actually won a race from the Excel sheet.
Obviously 1.01 in the LTP is a reasonably sure way but when there is a close finish (say 1.04 and 1.41), then BF doesn't indicate a "winner".
Anyone got a method that can be used in automated systems that indicate the "winner"?

I'm fairly sure BA support don't look in here. See the support section of the board.
But I've tried this too. As the result is not passed to the spreadsheet then the only way is to write some code to look for 'the signs' of a winner. What you have suggested is the best way but there are close calls as you've identified. And then there are photo finishes.
You could monitor your account balance in the sheet to see if you won or lost if you are not greening.

Hi James
LTP is the best indicator...
Yes you will have 1.01's that dont win, but they are few and far between...very small percentage...
if fact if you choose any particular week from :-
http://data.betfair.com/
...you can calcualte what the error rate would be...(file and sort the spreadsheet on IP and the winnerflag/odds..)
regards
Peter

Thanks for the reply guys.
The 1.01 LTP (albeit not perfect) is fine in most cases but where there is a close finish, its impossible to tell who won since neither of the horses involved ever go to 1.01. The staking system I am using requires knowing whether the last bet was a winner/loser. Unfortunately the next race usually goes off before the P/L is updated, so that is a non starter.
Its odd that no one running an automated system hasn't come across this problem.

Now, if you could also post a link to a spreadsheet that will tell me which horse will win the race before the off, that would be much appreciated.
