After trading now for a couple of months and having been on one of Peters courses, i felt i was progressing slowly but in the right direction, each day i was holding my own with my p/l going in the right direction, my tick sizes were slowly increasing as were my volume of trades,i even became more disciplined at my closing and scratching out, and, not waiting as before in the hope they may come back, until yesterday, i had done my trades on one meeting, greened up and moved onto the next meeting, after doing this several times, i glanced down at my balance only to see it had not gone up, it had gone down by a large ammount, not understanding why, i started to look back at my previous trades, only to find that on one of them, i had left an unclosed lay bet, which had been taken after me leaving the meeting, which left me totaly exposed and out of pocket, i know Peter said we would make mistakes, and so long as we learn from them, then we will progress and hopefully become better traders, this is one lesson i have learned, and, one i hope never to make again, felt gutted, but have to move on and try to re-build, it is over and i can do nothing about it.
Stupid, idiotic newbie trader.

Been there, done that. A couple of weeks ago I was trading close to the off but very sure my counter trade was going to be filled, but just in case I pressed the keep all button. It did get filled about a second before the gates opened but I had forgotten about an earlier trade I had not cancelled. I don’t watch the races so I moved on to the next race. Just before the page changed I saw a huge lay bet go on, I couldn’t believe it but luckily for me the price reversed and I greened up at a bigger profit than I had to start with. The horse did win but, if I had not seen it I would have lost several days profit, I learned. But when I make mistakes it usually costs me, don’t be too hard on your self.
