Pre game analysis

I would like to how do you check if the game is playing based on your pregame analysis. For example, if you have some predicted xG for league game what is your indicator in play to entry trade if you are chasing goals are you waiting for some average shots on target / played time or you wait for the first goal .... I hope I explained myself. Just curious as I am finally working with proper data. Cheers, good luck guys.
