Hey everyone :)

I am still in my trial period of Bet Angel but I thought I would have a couple of hours this afternoon trading horses for the very first time. It was very daunting but I tried to look at the data available, keep calm at all times and make the best judgement I possibly could. I did have 4 or 5 days in practise mode but didn't feel I was learning that much as I wasn't using real money so it didn't matter If the trade went wrong, I mainly used it to test the different offset bets.

I have a long history of betting and following horse racing & football and I have been matched betting on and off for 7/8 years but the money in it isn't what it used to be. So I thought I'd try my hand at trading. I am working my way through the tutorials and watching plenty of videos on the Bet angel YouTube channel.

I have put a side £500 for trading which I'm hoping not to lose too much of while learning.

Any hints and tips for a newbie would be greatly appreciated!

Below are my results for this afternoon. 8 of them traded pre-off and 2 I left to run in play as I thought that was the best strategy for them particular horses. All stakes were £10.

Have a good day :)
Nick

It seems like you have a good idea of how to get started. Good luck with the journey, it's tough but interesting :)

My advice would be to use £100 bank max if you are trading live, that way when you have some dents in the learning process it won't hurt as much. If losing becomes an issue then try and make use of practice mode to save you money in the longer term while still getting most of the benefit, I spent around 3 months in practice mode.

The other thing is it's important not to mix up pre-race and inplay trading. There are strategies for each but shouldn't be mixed unless you are a complete pro at both. One of the worst things to do is using inplay as a loss recovery system for pre-race. Even outside of that it is much easier to focus on one market/strategy otherwise you will probably end up confusing yourself
